Celebrate Cinema, the annual property of Whistling woods International (Wwi) with numerous film workshop, witnessed the coming together of two ‘Hero’es – Jackie Shroff and Sooraj Pancholi. Together they were seen enjoying the grand 3-day event put up for movie aficionados and students at Wwi, Filmcity.
Day Two of Celebrate Cinema 2015 started with the music workshop with Louiz Banks, Godfather of Indian Jazz as part of the 5th Veda cultural hub event. Banks was seen performing with his son, Gino Banks which left the audience in awe. When asked about Jazz music, Banks said “Jazz music opens up a whole new universe for you and adds an altogether new dimension. Jazz is best when played live as it touches everyone who is listening to it.” The students were surprised when Banks mentioned, he has affirmed the project by Subhash Ghai to have Jazz classes in Whistling Woods International (Wwi) for the budding musicians.

Each year the Sitges Film Festival commercial spot is almost as eagerly awaited by the general public as its lineup, and Rafa Antón, creative director of the China agency and the man responsible for its campaigns over the last ten years, has presented this year’s commercial, entitled "Alter Ego". In addition, the preliminary lineup for the Festival has been revealed, but it's not complete by any means. More will be announced throughout the month.
Antón presented the commercial at the Velodrome, property of the brand, along with Festival director Angel Sala and one of Sitges 2011’s partners Moritz Beer.
As explained at the presentation of the Sitges 2011 posters, artificial intelligence is this year’s central theme, represented through the geminoids created by professor Ishiguro in Japan. For the commercials, Rafa Antón stated that he’d “continued with the same commemorative leitmotif of the tenth anniversary of Artificial Intelligence (Steven Spielberg...

Updated through 5/19.
Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, which opened the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, already has its own entry, of course (and it's still being updated, too), but it's here that I'll collect all that's notably linkable related to the films in the Official Selection yet screening Out of Competition (excluding Special Screenings, which'll have their own upcoming roundup). We already have plenty on Jodie Foster's The Beaver here; and I'm sure Christophe Honoré's Beloved will warrant an entry of its own when it closes the Festival on May 22.
"Bursting with light and color, and a torrent of martial arts action both swift and savage (arguably the best that lead actor Donnie Yen has choreographed for years), Wu Xia is coherently developed and stylishly directed by Peter Ho-Sun Chan to provide unashamedly pleasurable popular entertainment," writes Maggie Lee in the Hollywood Reporter, where Karen Chu interviews Chan.

Shekhar Kapoor’s production, Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, which played outside competition at the Cannes Film Festival, came as a huge disappointment, particularly at a time when India is struggling to find some space, however tiny, here at what is undoubtedly the world’s largest movie carnival. The film, strictly a documentary -- that has been helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (Delhi 6, Rang De Basanti) and Jeff Zimbalist (an American documentary moviemaker best known for his Favela Rising, The Two Escobars, and The Scribe of Urabá) -- is indeed a love story of Hindi film song sequences. 64th Cannes Film Festival held the screening of the documentary “Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told” in the out of competition selection on Saturday. The 81-minute documentary doesn’t quite appear to have impressed the international press present at the premier film festival.
Directed by Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra and Jeff Zimbalist, and produced by Shekhar Kapur and Utv Motion Pictures, the documentary takes a look at Bollywood through the ages.
“A non-Indian seeking to get acquainted with Bollywood cinema would be utterly lost… In its current state, Utv couldn’t screen the movie in India itself. Having rushed to complete the film only days before its Cannes debut, Kapur and his fellow producers might want to rethink the whole thing”, reads a review of the documentary by American film journal The Hollywood Reporter.
“Somewhere in this mesh-mash is a really good doc about a joyous cinema that something like two billion people love.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has explained the title of his documentary Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told. The Elizabeth director presents the film about Indian cinema, which was specially made for this year's Cannes Film Festival. Kapur told The Hollywood Reporter: "I wanted to avoid the usual documentary style of interspersing one interview after another but instead focus on the songs. "I want to see if the product can sell itself without any analysis because that stops you from falling in love. And that's why we titled it Bollywood: (more)...

Both will be screening in Un Certain Regard and, if you're checking the entry rounding up all the current news on the lineup of the Official Selection, you'll see, first, that it's being continuously updated (as are the entries on Critics' Week and Directors' Fortnight), and second, another trailer: the one for Na Hong-jin's Yellow Sea. And of course, you've seen the trailers for Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life and Lars von Trier's Melancholia. Let's have a look at a few more.
Here's one for Joseph Cedar's Footnote:
