When Sophie first talks to Nick, she says "I don't have sex. Wait, I'm 30, I do have sex." Before this show was started, Hillary Duff had been tied to a possible Lizzy Maguire reboot that fell through. She stated in an interview that one of the reasons it fell through was because Disney said Lizzy wasn't allowed to have a sex life. This didn't make sense to Duff because "she's 30. She's going to be having sex."
Sophie says that Jane Says by Jane's Addiction is a weird song to have sex to. The song is about a woman who turns to prostitution to support a debilitating heroin addiction.
Future Sophie is portrayed by Kim Cattrall, who played Sex and the City (1998)'s iconic Samantha Jones. Lindsey Gort, who's guest starring as Angelina in this episode, played a young Samantha Jones in SatC's prequel series The Carrie Diaries (2013).
