Out in limited release and available on VOD is the horror comedy with a fantasy twist, The Final Girls. From director Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas), the film follows young Max (Taissa Farmiga) a year after her scream-queen mother (Malin Akerman) dies. When her cinephile friend invites her out to a celebratory screening of the film she was most famous for, Max and her group of friends are transported to the actual reality of the 80s horror slasher. Once there the group must find a way to survive the relentless, murdering Billy. That’s a lot of setup and yet the The Final Girls manages to be quite smooth and smart in the way things are laid out. While the film mostly plays for laughs instead of horror, there are some more interesting aspects working at the core of the film when it comes to Max and her...

For more than 30 years, the sport of human chess in the squared circle has long been a favorite for video game programmers. There’s been pro-wrestling games on almost every video game system released from 1983′s arcade game “Tag Team Wrestling” (aka The Big Pro Wrestling!”) by Technos Japan to Absolute Entertainment’s “Title Match Pro Wrestling” on the Atari 2600 to the succinctly titled Nes “Pro Wrestling” (A Winner is You!) to exceptionally popular series such as “Fire Pro Wrestling” to modern multi-platform installments in franchises such as “WWE 2K14″.
Counting examples of “real life” wrestlers can be a challenging and subjective process. Should 1985′s Mat Mania “The Golden Hullk” and Super Fire Pro Wrestling Premium X’s “Ax Duggan” count towards Hulk Hogan? Are you counting both computer releases and video game consoles? With Create-a-Wrestler and Character packs, what’s the proper count? How do you handle...

I love visiting New York City, and New York Comic Con is one of my favorite shows. I always have a great time, and this year was no exception. One other thing that remains consistent every year I go is that it all goes by in a total whirlwind blur, and I can barely remember all the things I saw and did, or when they occurred.
But for you, my faithful readers who may not have been able to attend, I’ll try to remember some of the best parts of the weekend, and, as Inigo Montoya would say, “sum up.” So here we go! In no particular order, some of the coolest experiences I had in NYC:
I saw First Date, the Broadway musical starring Zachary Levi, and it was fantastic. I also interviewed Zac at The Nerd Machine booth during the con – so stay tuned for my review...

With UK cult and genre champions Arrow Video dropping their brand new and restored edition of George Romero's offbeat classic Knightriders on DVD and Blu-ray today, we've got a quick look at what fans can expect from this feature-laden package. Joust your way in here, squire!
From the Press Release:
Starring up-and-coming actor Ed Harris in his first ever leading role (Harris would go on to become a major Hollywood star, nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes for his roles in Apollo 13 and The Truman Show), Knightriders depicts a troupe of traveling medieval entertainers, led by Harris, trying to live their lives according to the ideals of King Arthur – No easy feat in Reagan’s America, where the outside world and its financial realities constantly encroach on their dreams.
Instead of flesh and bone, the trusty steeds on which these Knights ride are made of steel and engine!

If you've ever seen the classic 1973 Christmas Special of The Goodies (called The Goodies And The Beanstalk), then you'll probably remember that bit at the end when the down and out trio come across an abandoned lamp in the street. As soon as they rub the lamp – bingo! A puff of smoke and then John Cleese in a turban. Cleese then bellows “Kids' Show!” after the Goodies tell him to clear off.
I suppose that some people regarded The Goodies as the crazy younger brother of the more adult Monty Python's Flying Circus – on the surface, with its speeded-up action sequences, giant kittens, Dougals and Zebedees, I suppose you could say it's a show that's targeted towards younger ones. But then how do you explain the satirical swipes at the Royals, advertising commercialism, talent shows or apartheid?
Which neatly brings me on to Doctor Who. I was wondering this the...

Genesis P-Orridge has been one of the most innovative and influential figures in music and fine art for the last 30 years. Celebrated by critics and art historians as a progenitor of "industrial music," his innovations have transformed the character of rock and electronic music, while his prodigious efforts to expand the boundaries of live performance have radically altered the way people experience sound in a concert setting. Defying artistic boundaries, Genesis has re-defined his art as a challenge to the limits of biology. In 2000, Genesis began a series of surgeries in order to more closely resemble his love, Lady Jaye (nee Jacqueline Breyer), who remained his other half and artistic partner for nearly 15 years. It was the ultimate act of devotion, and Genesis's most risky, ambitious, and subversive performance to date: he became a she in a triumphant act of artistic self-expression. The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye...

Tna Impact Wrestling!
12/1/11
Bobby Roode is still your Tna Champion after Genesis, and he’s gracing us with his presence. As the fans chant “Hardy,” Roode tells us he’s the most dominant champion in the history of Impact! Roode says he’s not going to embarrass him anymore, and brings him out to “humbly accept his defeat” and shake Roode’s hand. Instead it’s Sting’s music that plays and out comes the Icon. Sting and Roode share some weird caveman insults which somehow garners a “Spank his butt” chant from the crowd. Sting calls Roode out for getting intentionally disqualified and tells him tonight he defends again against Jeff Hardy! Sting is out, and Roode throws a tantrum.
Earlier today, Matt Morgan met Crimson coming out of Direct Insurance and they gave him a Great Deal. Morgan says they’ve been amazing with his family for years.

Some people like to get high off drugs, some people enjoy getting a buzz from drinking booze, I don't know who doesn't like having an orgasm while having sex, but YouTuber MauriceAntSimmons had one hell of a powerful geekgasm while watching the final episode of Smallville. It's like the final moments of Smallville is the moment he's been waiting for his whole life, making it his greatest moment in life to date. Here's a note from Maurice,

Lidsville -Sid Krofft talked to me over the phone. That’s almost as wild and weird as the shows he created with his brother Marty that dominated the ’70s. Their live action Saturday morning series mixed puppets and people went perfect with the sugar rush from a fresh bowl of Count Chocula. This was like a weird childhood dream as I had so many questions that had puzzled me since childhood. Krofft was eager to give answers.
He was excited about Vivendi Entertainment’s recent release of H.R. Pufnstuf: The Complete Series Collector’s Edition. There’s also a normal H.R. Pufnstuf: The Complete Series. What’s the difference? A cool bobblehead of H.R. Pufnstuf. I’ve had little contact with the bobblehead since my two year-old has turned it into her new best friend. I told Sid Krofft how another generation has embraced the lizard hero of my youth.
