All at Sea (1933)
*** (out of 4)
Alistair Cooke went on vacation with Charles Chaplin and Paulette Goddard and took a video camera with him. The end result was this documentary, which was shot silent and basically features the two stars clowning around on their vacation. If you're looking for any sort of style then you're not going to find it here as this is basically some edited footage of some home movies. Of course, what makes it so interesting is the fact that you get to see Chaplin and Goddard behind-the-scenes as the two are trying to enjoy their free time. There are some great shots of Chaplin clowning around and there's no doubt that fans of his will enjoy watching this. Is there anything ground-breaking here? Not at all but at the same time it's still fascinating getting to see this footage today.
