The movie contains song parodies of some famous songs Elvis Presley sang: "Hound Dog" (the scene at the The Ed Sullivan Show (1948)); "C'mon Everybody" (Viva Las Vegas (1964) scene); "That's All Right, Mama" (in the scene with James Dean); "Hawaiian Wedding Song" (in the scene with "Priscilla"); "Suspicious Minds" (song scene between the dialog) and "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" (song during the credits). "Elvis" has also referenced the song "Burning Love" in the scene with Billy Boy and "Marilyn" and the song "Unchained Melody" in the truck scene with Billy Boy.
After movie's release director Axel Braun received a death threat from an angry Elvis fan. He reported it to the police.
The movie was released on Elvis' birthday on the 8th January 2011. Additionally Elvis performer Dale DaBone's birthday was also on the 8th January. In an interview at the AVN Awards he said that it was an honor for him to portray Elvis Presley.
