This is a short film made for British Railways to aid the difficult period of transition from steam engines to diesel/electric locomotion. The film is based upon a Stanley Holloway monologue, complete with northern industrial working class accent, which attempts to show how new thinking must be employed by railway locomotive drivers in the "new" era. The value of this film now is to demonstrate how the middle class management types of the day considered it necessary to dumb down the way they communicated with "the men" who, they clearly considered, required a certain method of approach in order to make that all important connection. It's a very funny film too, Holloway at his best.
