Let me warn you right now, if you didn’t have a sinking pit in your stomach going into Nashville‘s aptly titled episode “The Trouble With the Truth”, you did by the end. As we near the end of the season things haven’t gotten more intense than they’ve ever been. We’ve seen our Nashville characters go back and forth on certain choices in their lives, but if this episode was any sort of proof, there are just some decisions you have to live with. Juliette is nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Shenadoah Girl”. Her jubilation at this honor

Need to catch up? Check out last week’s Nashville recap here.
It’s hard to say which development requires a greater suspension of disbelief in this week’s Nashville: Juliette’s nomination for a Best Actress Academy Award (?!) or her snap realization that not only is Layla sleeping with Avery, Ms. Grant is on a vengeful tear to destroy everything the Shenandoah girl holds dear.
Hey, it’s not like there’s no precedent for a singer-turned-actress to nab a major award early in her acting career. But for every JHud-in-Dreamgirls and Cher-in-Moonstruck, there’s a Mariah-Carey-in-Sparkle and a Madonna-in-Shanghai Surprise.

In this episode of Nashville, "The Trouble with the Truth," Deacon's past comes back to haunt him at Maddie's emancipation hearing, Juliette struggles to accept Avery's new relationship, Luke faces off against a conservative talk show host and a magazine interview turns sour for Scarlett and Gunnar.
After a night of hook-ups, it's a morning full of surprises. Gunnar and Scarlett, snuggling together in the sack, find themselves late for an interview with Rolling Stone. Luke and Will's appearance on Gma seems to have had the desired effect: one of Will's songs starts to get airplay, even in Nashville. Juliette receives an Oscar nomination for her role as Patsy Cline, and when she calls to tell Avery, she hears Layla in the background. When Rayna and Deacon show up for the emancipation hearing, Deacon discovers that Frankie has come to support Cash.

Title: The Trouble with the Truth Director: Jim Hemphill Starring: John Shea, Lea Thompson, Danielle Harris, Keri Lynn Pratt A spare but winning romantic drama that taps into the same talky, intellectually stimulating vein as Richard Linklater’s “Sunrise”/”Sunset” collaborations with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, “The Trouble with the Truth” is cinematic catnip for anyone who fancies themselves a student of the human condition. Written and directed by Jim Hemphill, this intimate bauble serves as a great showcase for actors Lea Thompson and John Shea, and a reminder that human desire doesn’t expire at 35 years of age. On the heels of learning that their 24-year-old daughter Jenny (Danielle Harris) is engaged to [ Read More ]...
