Michael Goldberg has passed away after a 14-year battle with cancer, aged 55.
The writer, director and producer was best known for penning the script to 1993's Cool Runnings, the comedy about Jamaican Olympic bobsled team.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goldberg lost his battle with brain and sinus cancer on October 2.
As well as Cool Runnings, he also co-wrote Should've Been Romeo, Little Giants, Bushwhacked, Snow Dogs and The Lovemaster, which he also directed.
As well as writing and directing Hollywood films, he also directed and acted in a number of off-Broadway productions.

Phillybrook Films' Gregory Segal produces. Asner, known mostly for voice his role in Disney Pixar's sensational Up animated family adventure, joined Hallmark's Two In telepic recently. Singer and reality star Kelly Osbourne ("The Osbournes," "Dancing with the Stars") will play Miley Cyrus' sorority sister in the action-comedy So Undercover. The story is about a young female private investigator (Cyrus) recruited by the CIA to infiltrate a suspicious sorority house. The costarring role is the second acting role for Osbourne who was previously in the movie Should've Been Romeo.
