Ajay Devgn’s Score Card Of Box Office Clashes. (Photo Credit – Instagram/IMDb)
Ajay Devgn might be coronated as the King of clashes. The actor, who has been enjoying good word of mouth with his latest release, Shaitaan, is gearing up for a huge clash with Akshay Kumar on Eid with his film Maidaan, where he will take on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. While the battle seems to be very interesting, this will not be the first time Ajay will lock horns with another superstar.
Recently, he opened up about the clash and mentioned that he wishes for both films to do well. In fact, last year, Gadar 2 and Omg 2’s clash proved that two good films can survive. In fact, Ajay’s clashing history also proves the same.

The actor started his career in 2004 with the show ‘Aakrosh’ in which he played Inspector Sachin Kulkarni. The show aired on Doordarshan.

"Tonight is going to be antithetical to traditional methods of moving image distribution." At around 00:00 GMT on March 27th, artist Zia Anger begins her staggering, shrewd, and somehow still surprising performance My First Film with this ambitious agenda. By the performance’s end, about two hours later, Anger has more than achieved her aim—imagining and realizing a creative, conceptual work that is not contrarian but utopian, a statement that is forceful and immutable, yet intimate, something exceptionally clear-eyed, and as ever with Anger, characteristically noncompliant.Though there is always an evident, and ontologically inherent variability and singularity to live performance, My First Film has, since 2018, more or less existed established in its one original form. Described by the artist as an “expanded cinema performance,” My First Film meshes Anger’s unseen, undistributed first feature Always All Ways, Anne Marie (formerly known as Gray) with live on-screen commentary, giving...

As the director of the 2008 National Award winning Tamil film, Kanchivaram and many other classics, Priyadarshan needs no introduction nor to be questioned if he can sparkle up the screen. But not everyone remembers this and time is what it is. Although not nearly as breathtaking, Rangrezz would probably fall into the same category of films he directed as Aakrosh and Tezz, showing the serious/realistic cinema side of him. A remake from Tamil, it stars Jackky Bhagnani, Priya Anand, Vijay Verma and Amitosh Nagpal in lead roles. The original film, Naadodigal, has been remade into 4 other languages since its release in 2009. But the key here is whether Rangrezz will see the same success.

Ajay Devgn and Bipasha Basu, who have earlier done films like Aakrosh, All The Best, Apaharan, Zameen etc…will be seen together yet again. This time round though, it is for the campaign promo of Animal Planet's series to save the tigers titled 'Where Tigers Rule'. Ajay and Bips have shot separately with ad filmmaker Rohit Vaid for the same. News is that, a lot of high-tech computer graphics have been used to 'show' that the duo have shot with a real tiger! On her part, Bipasha urged that we need to save the tiger at any cost. Meanwhile, Ajay said that he is delighted that 'Animal Planet' has dedicated a month-long of programming on the tigers. The said campaign that also features the Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra is expected to start from April 1.

Bipasha Basu, the sexy, feisty actress who is best known for being the epitome of desire on-screen and who previously did popular films such as Jism, Raaz, Corporate, Bachna Ae Hasseno and Aakrosh , has spoken out about the double standard in Bollywood.
Bips revealed exactly what she thought about the roles female actresses get and then some, in a recent and candid interview.
“In Bollywood, the opportunities for female actresses is very minimum. There’s not much choice for us except to be safe and look pretty and do some nice dance numbers. As a one off, you will get a film, which will be talked about in the context that ‘Oh! Women are getting into trend now! It’s going to be such a great time for female actresses’. The thing it is never.”
What about films such as The Dirty Picture? Surely that has got to have changed something?...

It's two down for Ajay Devgn and Priyadarshan. The superstar currently riding the highest waves of success had his success streak broken twice by Priyadarshan. First with Aakrosh and now Tezz. And Priyan is deeply mortified about letting down Devgn.
Thanks to the horrific experience that Priyadarshan has suffered in getting his latest film through post-production, the prolific director has decided to change his working policy.
"From now, I'll put it in all my contracts that I won't show a single frame of my film to my producer until the film is completed, edited and full post-production is done," declares Priyan, wondering what hit him.
Hurting under the impact of the failure of Tezz, Priyan says, "The producers took over the film from me after I shot it. It was edited by them. And the results were there for everyone to see. So many people including critics have told me...

Tezz is a widely anticipated movie for a number of reasons. Firstly Ajay Devgn is doing an action thriller after a long time. The last one being Qayamat: City under threat in 2003 and since then has delivered two of Bollywood’s biggest grossers, Golmaal 3 and Singham. Anil Kapoor returns to Bollywood films, hot off successful appearances in popular American TV series 24 and a cameo in Mission Impossible 4. Priyadarshan is actively directing different films as opposed comedies, starting with Aakrosh, a hard-hitting social drama and now Tezz, a slick action thriller. Can Ajay Devgan deliver another 100 crore blockbuster? Will Anil Kapoor be back with a bang? Can Priyadarshan pull off an action film? These are just some of the questions we went in to find out…

Tezz marks the return of Priyadarshan after quite some time, his last release being Aakrosh that did not fare so well. Like Aakrosh, Priyadarshan has divested of his usual comical outings (Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Hungama and Hulchul) and gone for an action-suspense-thriller starring Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan as leads. Zayed Khan, Sameera Reddy, Kangana Ranaut and Boman Irani bring up the supporting tier of the ensemble with a rumoured appearance by Malayalam acting legend Mohanlal. Trailers and promos of the film thus far have looked more than promising and therefore one expects the music to reflect same.
Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg, Housefull 2 and Wanted) have composed for Tezz while Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed have penned the lyrics. The 10-track soundtrack features the vocal talents of Shreya Ghosal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shaan (‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh‘ – 3 Idiots), Mohit Chauhan (‘Sadda Haq’ – Rockstar), Sunidhi Chuhan (‘Ishq Sufianna’ – The Dirty Picture...

Though she has not been seen in too many Hindi films lately except for 'Aakrosh' in 2010, the actress has been busy with southern projects.

Kangna may well be counting days till the release of Rascals post which she would be glad to break free. The Sanjay Dutt-Ajay Devgn starrer hasn't really left a good taste in her mouth and with the makers clearly putting the film's (distant) second lead Lisa Haydon much ahead of her; picture is quite clear on the wall. However, the end is not as near as it seems. Reason being that Kangna still has one more film with Ajay Devgn - Tezz - up for release and there is still a sword hanging on her neck, what with Sameera Reddy as another leading lady in the film, ready to hog all the limelight. Ajay Devgn is in a wildly experimental mood. Swinging from the hardcore mainstream Singham, he now goes into what is arguably the quirkiest film of his career. The film to be entitled The Arab, The Camel & P Madhavan Nair is currently on the verge of completion in Priyadarshan's mother tongue Malayalam. The original stars the inimitable Mohanlal. As the film neared completion, Priyadarshan felt Ajay Devgn was the only actor in Bollywood who could do justice to the part in Hindi. Finally, it's the old Priyan favourite Sameera Reddy who will be performing the sizzling item song for Priyadarshan in his thriller Tezz. Sameera, no stranger to Priyan's cinema, is a close family friend. She and Priyan's wife Lizzie are best friends and whenever Sameera shoots a Tamil film in Chennai she stays with Priyan and his wife. With such proximity, is it any wonder that the Tezz sizzler has finally gone to Sameera when apparently a lot of the screen queens were keen to perform to the peppy Sajid-Wajid number? Priyan just back from a longish holiday abroad, is quick to defend the number as belonging to Sameera. "How can anyone else dance to that number? Sameera plays a club dancer in Tezz and the number rightly belongs her." Incidentally, Sameera had also performed an item song in Priyadarshan's Aakrosh last year. The song in Tezz will be shot in Mumbai later this month.

Shemaroo Entertainment has released Aakrosh on home video.Aakrosh is a film, which shows the true face of honor killing. November 11, 2010: Bipasha Basu, the hot bombshell of B-town is in an experimental frame of mind these days or so it seems, at least from her professional point of view.
Bipasha Basu, who is well-known for her sex appeal and her gracious charm has been seen in two completely different genres of films, off late. She has done Lamhaa, where her character was of a simple young Kashmiri girl who gets into the realm of a political drama. Her role was quite a contrast to the usual glamor oriented ones that she has done in several films. Rather, Bipasha appeared in a total de- glam role in this flick and it was well appreciated too.
Recently, she was seen in the flick Aakrosh, and here too she played.

October 29, 2010: A film about honor killing, Aakrosh has turned out to be an honorable flop at the box office. The film just didn’t open well and also failed to bring in any worthwhile collections in the weekdays that followed. It was clear, audience were not in any mood whatsoever to check out what Priyadarshan had to offer in his dramatic venture. After a one week run, this Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna had a mere 11 crore opening which was very bad by all means. Poor collections are also disheartening due to the fact that the film was appreciated not just by the critics but also those form the ‘aam junta’ who caught it in theaters.
The no-show of Akrosh also means that Ajay Devgn.

For the photoshoot done recently of a furniture brand’s print ad, actress Bipasha Basu sported a 50-kilo gown made by designer Gavin Miguel from upholstery material used for furnishings.
Bipasha informs, “It was very difficult to move around in the heavy leather gown. It weighed 50 kilos and I am only 58 kilos. However, the brown outfit was my favourite among the four looks we shot for.”
With this, Bipasha takes on with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time with this ad, as Srk recently shot an ad with wife Gauri for a furnishing brand.
Bipasha recently released film ‘Aakrosh’ failed terribly.

Kumar Mangat’s forthcoming film ‘Aakrosh’, directed by Priyadarshan also stars Amita Pathak, in a key role.
However, due to issues concerning the pace of the film, a song which was picturized on Amita Pathak marriage needed to be chopped off. Incidentally, this song also featured Urvashi Sharma who will not be seen in the film now. Priyadarshan was very apprehensive to convey this to the producer since Amita happens to be Kumar Mangat’s daughter. Hence, he roped in Ajay Devgn to act as a mediator.
Ajay then spoke to Mangat and conveyed the request. When contacted, this is what Kumar Mangat had to say, “Yes, it is true. Priyan chopped the song which was picturized on Amita and also Urvashi Sharma. Ajay told me that.

The sexy Bipasha Basu has been at the receiving end of Paresh Rawal’s anger lately. Before you guys jump on the women rights bandwagon, let us tell you that it was only for Priyadarshan’s forthcoming film ‘Aakrosh’.
The movie, which is based on the sensitive issue of honour killing, will see Bipasha getting a lot of beating up by co-star Paresh Rawal.
However, it was all done in an eased manner and no bad blood ensued between the stars. They both firmly believe in getting into the skin of their characters and hence tried keeping the scenes as realistic as possible.
Well, we think they sure can give the others.

After directing Aakrosh, director Priyadarshan has developed a penchant for action thrillers. He is currently shooting in London for producer Ratan Jain’s Tez. While Ajay Devgn plays a sardonic villain who holds a speeding train to ransom, the film also features Boman Irani and Kangana Ranaut.Priyadarshan spent a week with the British rail department at their headquarters in London to study the train system. Ajay Devgn-Akshaye Khanna starrer flick ‘Aakrosh’, which was based on the topical subject of honor killing and opened this Friday, could not attract the attention of audiences and its occupancy rate on the first day did not cross even forty percent. On the other hand, Sanjay Dutt-Irrfan Khan-Kangna Ranaut starrer ‘Knock Out’ could not manage even that much and was pegged at around twenty percent on the day of its opening. Trade analysts are attributing the lack of interest among audiences to traditional dull period for films that come just before Diwali. Generally, audiences are busy with their religious rituals as well as Dandia, Garba to take any interest in movies releasing at theatres. However, as the producers of ‘Aakrosh’ and ‘Knock Out’ had aggressively promoted the film before its release, they were expecting better results than this. Now, their only hope lies with Saturday and Sunday,...

Despicable Me (U)
(Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud, 2010, Us) Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, Will Arnett. 95 mins
Despite being zippily outlandish and cartoony, there's a certain truthfulness to this animation about a would-be supervillain who's always being outdone: it's basically how every aspiring animation company feels when they look at Pixar. Whatever fiendish new weaponry they develop, Pixar's still winning this cuddly arms race. But judging by this effort from Universal and Illumination, in which Carell's supposedly evil heart is melted by three spirited little girls, they're catching up fast. With its polished visuals, sharply timed slapstick, and mix of fantastical adventure and domestic reality, it could be a spin-off of The Incredibles.

Movie Review: Aakrosh; Starring: Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Bipasha Basu; Directed by: Priyadarshan; Rating: ***1/2 – has its heart in the right place.
Caste based atrocity is one of the worst, chronic and a few millennia old injustice of the world. Yet its continuing prevalence, especially in India, is one of its best kept open-secrets. India’s vibrant cinema has paid scant attention to it. The commercial venture “Aakrosh” comes as a late but welcome populist attempt to correct this gross neglect.
After three Delhi medical students disappear from a village in Bihar, two Cbi officials Sidhant (Akshaye Khanna) and Pratap (Ajay Devgn) are sent for investigation. They encounter.

October 14, 2010 (Sampourn Wire): After valiantly crying out loud against the comprehensive cuts ordered by the censorboard, producer Kumar Mangat has quietly acceped an ‘Adults Only’ censor certificate for Aakrosh, apparently without consulting the director Priyadarshan who’s currently in London shooting producer Ratan Jain’s thriller Tezz.
The certification of the hard hitting film for Adults has not gone down well with Priyadarshan, who feels young people in the country need to understand the topical issue of honour killing.
Priyadarshan was adamant that the film get a ‘UA’ certification which would have made Aakrosh accessible to kids under parental guidance.
Argues Priyan, “I think.

When it comes to intense roles, you could say Ajay Devgan re-wrote the book. But he’s no stranger to comedies either, as he often switches gears between the varying genres, as can be seen in his releases this year. After a dismal finish to 2009, the actor started the year with the comedy caper Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, followed by two intense films, Rajneeti and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. His next release Aakrosh, due this Friday, is also an issue based film about the controversial topic of honour killings. He then shifts gears, joining the gang from Golmaal Returns for a third instalment with Golmaal 3.
“I like balancing it out because, even the audience will not like it if I keep doing the same thing” says the versatile actor in an interview with Hindustan Times. He also says there’s no room for favouritism either, “I don't have a favourite genre.

Bipasha Basu is itching to do action roles. While her latest film Aakrosh is about honour killings where she plays her most fragile character yet, the actress says in real life she is fit enough to beat her boyfriend John Abraham's energy levels. "I want to do action. I think I am too fit at this point in time and that is a zone that I have not tapped fully and in India we don't have too many films where the woman gets to do action.
