Its original release date was to be on February 1, 2022, the first day of Chinese New Year in Hong Kong, but had to be postponed due to lockdown of cinemas in Hong Kong due to Covid-19 pandemic. Although cinemas were reopened due to dissolved restrictions, no further release date was announced until eventually have one on July 14, 2022, made it a 5 months delay.
This film is based on Coba Cheng, the director/writer's own experiences of chili sauce making, during the Covid occurrence in Hong Kong. Producer Sandra Ng, who meet the director/writer at a chance and listened the story, decided to make it a movie and allow him to make it as his own directorial debut.
