EastEnders star Sam Strike has joined the cast of Bonded By Blood 2.
The 20-year-old will star in the Greg Hall-directed crime sequel following his recent departure from the BBC soap.
The film - based on Bernard O'Mahoney's book Essex Boys: The New Generation - focuses on the Essex crime scene after the murders of Pat Tate, Tony Tucker and Craig Rolfe in 1995.
Strike posted about the project on Twitter earlier today (January 5), and was swiftly congratulated by his former on-screen father Danny Dyer.

Despite releasing The Fall of the Essex Boys only at the start of this year, Paul Tanter is about to return with the follow-up, Essex Boys: Retribution, a fictionalised story picking up eighteen years after the famed Range Rover murders.
The film hits cinemas just in time for Christmas next month, and we’ve got the first trailer to share with you as we head into the weekend.
Leading the cast this time around are Ian Virgo (Rise of the Footsoldier), Alex Ismail (Attack the Block), Ryan Winsley (The Fall of the Essex Boys), and Kyle Summercorn (Turnout), with Lorraine Stanley (London to Brighton), Vas Blackwood (Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels), and Billy Murray (The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan) completing the cast nicely.

Written and directed by Paul Tanter, White Collar Hooligan 2: England Away will be hitting the big screen this May. Picking up eighteen months after Tanter’s original film, The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan, the film sees Mike and Eddie going global.
We’ve got less than three months to wait before the crime sequel arrives, and we’re lucky enough to have the first trailer to share exclusively with you. And as you can imagine, there’s more than enough to make this trailer Nsfw.
Taking things international for White Collar Hooligan 2 looks to be a great move, raising the stakes and the action, and you can feel we’ve got a sweet British crime movie here coming our way in May.

A small-time dealer's plan to make some quick cash backfires.
Turnout is a homegrown effort rising from the grittier side of East London's trendy Hoxton. Self-aware and as on the make as its lead, it’s an accomplished low-budget debut.
George (George Russo) and Sophie (Ophelia Lovibond) are a twenty-something couple looking forward to a romantic holiday in Barbados. He's a likeable chancer who doesn't work, preferring small-time dealing and partying with his mates. She's from a more affluent family and is set up in a smart City job. Uh oh.

Thor; Blitz; Turnout; Atrocious
One of the great injustices of late 20th-century film criticism was the near universal drubbing dished out to Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein in the 90s. Recalling the debacle, Branagh once told me that the question he was most regularly asked in the wake of the film's release was: "What are you going to do now that your career is over?" Those of us who had the gall to praise Frankenstein for its gloriously overcooked melodramatic aesthetic (a quality entirely in keeping with Mary Shelley's source novel) were laughed out of court by those toeing the consensus line. It wasn't until the release of the (then futuristic) laserdisc edition that the mainstream critics started to admit that they might have got it wrong after all.
The same qualities that made Frankenstein such a delight lie at the heart of Thor (2011, Paramount, 12), a comic-book adaptation which similarly...

30 Minutes Or Less (15)
(Ruben Fleischer, 2011, Us) Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride. 83 mins
After the heights of The Social Network, Eisenberg is demoted to a lowly pizza delivery boy for this casual caper movie. He's driven to rob banks at the behest of McBride's criminal non-mastermind, with buddy Ansari roped in for comic effect. In fact, comic effect seems to be all this is after. Like a dodgy pizza, it's enjoyable at the time but nutritionally dubious, a bit thin, and just about gone cold by the time it's finished.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (15)
(Thomas Alfredson, 2011, UK/Fra/Ger) Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch. 127 mins
A very British spy thriller that dispenses with all that hasty pacing and coarse action in favour of well-tailored men talking in rooms. A complex, classy cold war mole-hunt that demands attention, but rewards it richly.

To mark the release of Turnout, on DVD 26th September, Revolver have given us two copies of the movie to give away. Turnout stars Ophelia Lovebond (4.2.3.1, Nowhere Boy, London Boulevard), George Russo (Doctor Who, Silent Witness) and musician Plan B (4.3.2.1, Harry Brown). You can find out more about the movie on their official Facebook page.
The film is set in Hoxton, East London and follows George (George Russo) and Sophie (Ophelia Lovebond), they’re saving money to go on their first holiday together, the deposit is paid, and they have two weeks left to pay the outstanding balance of £2,000. Sophie has entrusted George with her holiday savings and is keen to settle the debt with the travel agents. The only trouble is, unbeknown to Sophie, George is flat broke. In a vain attempt to raise cash, George uses Sophie’s holiday money to fund an ill judged deal.

While “Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy,” Andrea Arnold’s “Wuthering Heights,” and Steve McQueen's "Shame" are jostling for pole position at the Venice Film Festival, it’s easy to forget that films produced in the U.K. tend to hew, crudely speaking, to diametric opposites: either boffo pictures about stammering royalty or ones about cock-er-ney geezers roving around London with Kalashnikovs. The trailer for “Turnout” from director Lee Sales, which recently cropped on the site for UK tabloid The Sun, would appear to fall distinctly into the latter camp. This is always fairly dangerous territory. For every “Fish Tank” (which has an air of…...
