Damn. it was a good year for music.
It didn’t always feel that way, though. While Kendrick Lamar’s aforementioned fourth studio album -- which hit like a meteor on the Friday before the rapper’s monster set to close out Coachella -- much of 2017 was defined by growers rather than out of the gate jams and much of the summer passed without a bona fide “Song of” said season. (Barely. More on that in a second.)
Really, it's only on looking back at the cavalcade of "Best Of" lists that footnote every year that you realize how full of noteworthy sounds 2017 in particular was. And now, with the nearly ubiquitous acceptance of streaming as the primary method of song consumption, not only is the roster of artists who find both large audiences and critical acclaim more diverse and democratized than ever, but the entire idea of a publication-determined "Best Music of the Year" feels almost silly. Celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa is one of Hollywood’s biggest wave whisperers. So much so that in nearly five years, the pro launched her very own curling iron company, The Beachwaver Co., which has since helped every day women and her celeb clientele (such as clients like Kaley Cuoco and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) get envy-inducing styles sans stylist.
Yes, you read that right. After being fed up with hearing women tell her how hard it was to create a style often deemed effortless, she spent two years constructing an automatic, rotating (a.k.a does-it-all) tool. And now after giving what...

Something weird (weirder than usual) happened in La on Thursday night; from all corners of Hollywood emerged some of the hottest male stars in film and music, and the photographs are really something to behold. Ryan Reynolds, Nick Jonas, and Donald Glover were all honored at GQ's annual Men of the Year event, while Dev Patel did a panel for his movie Lion and Robert Pattinson stepped out for a Dior party. Listen, we're not complaining at all, but this is almost too much eye candy to handle. Look through to see all the hot guys who showed up and showed out in Hollywood the other night. Seth Meyers Could Replace Regis; Cinderella Has a New Pair of Shoes; Twilight Star Welcomes Baby Boy
ReelzChannel Celebrity Rundown
A famous princess has inspired some very fancy footwear. To celebrate the upcoming Blu-Ray release of Cinderella, designer Christian Louboutin collaborated with Disney to create a modern-day glass slipper. The shoes were unveiled in Paris earlier this week, and Disney announced that twenty pairs of the slippers (which are actually white lace and crystal stilettos) will be produced and given away worldwide this fall. The details of the giveaway will be released next month.
***
Rumor has it that SNL alum Seth Meyers is the frontrunner to fill Regis Philbin’s seat on Live! with Kelly. The other two names that are being tossed around to fill the host position are singer Josh Groban and former New York Giant Michael Strahan.
***
Community star and rapper Donald Glover released a free mixtape download on his website on Wednesday, and it featured the lyrical stylings of one surprise guest rapper.

Like many of the characters on her hit show, The Vampire Diaries, Kat Graham has her feet firmly planted in two realms: TV and music. But on tonight's premiere of Hip Hop Squares, the two spheres intersect as MTV resurrects the classic game show, but adds a modern day twist as artists like Common, Childish Gambino, Biz Markie, Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Nick Cannon fill out the board.
Kat is one of the special Squares on tonight's episode and she rang up (from Patricia Field's house ... Nbd!) TheInsider.com to talk all about the experience -- and give me the latest on her ever-exploding music career!

Kat Graham: It was really fun. There were artists like Biz Markie and Ghostface Killah and there I was, this pop girl coming in. I didn't know if it would be cool or if they'd be nice...

Last year's 'Community' Christmas episode ranks at the top of my list of favorite holiday-themed TV episodes ever. So how will this year's stack up?
Well there's no funny clay figurines or stop-motion animation, but that's not to say it won't be as magical or uncontrollable as Abed's adventure last season. I mean, we already know there will be a rap video. In 'Regional Holiday Music' (Thurs., Dec. 8, 8Pm Et on NBC), the Greendale glee club is sidelined, so the study group has to step up to sing in their place.
I caught up with Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover and Gillian Jacobs on the 'Community' set to hear more about their song-and-dance-filled holiday celebration, Troy and Abed's sweet rap, why this episode will be particularly gif-worthy and the "very awesome character" that '...

If you're a hardcore 'Community' fan, then you've probably already goatee'd yourself on social media sites in support of the show. You also probably know that Greendale's most famous alum is stopping by tonight (Thurs., Nov. 17, 8Pm Et on NBC).
In 'Documentary Filmmaking: Redux,' Dean Pelton directs the gang in a new commercial for Greendale, which also features fan-favorite students like Magnitude (Pop pop!), Fat Neil, Starburns and Leonard. Also stopping by: the most famous former Human Being of all, actor Luis Guzman, who, as we know, also happens to be immortalized with a statue on campus.
And just like last season's documentary episode, Abed takes over a bit, filming the filming of the commercial for his own archives.

Chicago – The program most unforgivably missing from Sunday’s Emmy telecast is NBC’s brilliant comedy “Community.” It’s almost as if the Academy decided there were too many NBC shows at the party (“The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” “30 Rock”) and so left out arguably the best of the Thursday night bunch. See the second season, now available on DVD, and see the level of Emmy injustice for yourself.
Television Rating: 5.0/5.0
“Community” went through some growing pains in season one but returned from the brink of cancellation more creatively confident and daring than nearly any program on TV (only two comedies of 2011 — “Parks and Rec,” “Louie” — were arguably better). Dan Harmon’s show is the kind of comedy made for DVD in that you can watch episode after episode after episode and never tire of the show. Stand-outs in season two include “Basic Rocket Science,” “Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design,...

By now we've all heard a lot about 'Community''s big two-part paintball season finale (part one airs Thurs., May 5, 8Pm Et on NBC; part two airs May 12), but what do we really know?
Well, Josh Holloway is guest starring as the mysterious Black Rider, and his old pal Chevy Chase was happy to have him and his dimples on set. Not surprisingly, everyone admits to having a massive crush on Holloway: "I was flirting with him. I don't care," Donald Glover said; "Dreamy with a capital "D," Joel McHale agreed.
Also, there's a Sergio Leone western theme for the first part, but the costumes and theme change a bit for part two, welcoming a 'Star Wars' theme -- sort of. There are stormtroopers running around and Danny Pudi's Abed looks a lot like Han Solo when he takes off his serape,...

This is Part Five of a five-part series that chronicles Nick Allen’s first experience at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

I began my final day of SXSW like a rock star. By this of course, I mean I tried to sleep in a hotel lobby at an early, early time in the morning without looking like a homeless person with a nice suitcase. (Jeff was off to the airport, and I was staying at Giancarlo’s).
After meeting up with Giancarlo and Patrick in their hotel room, it was off to SXSW for my final day at the festival. I got my first ride in a special bus, which ended up costing me ten dollars (cheaper than a cab ride, certainly). From there the three of us hopped onto a shuttle, so that we could attend the...

We gave you 64 celebrities to choose from in our March Celebrity Madness, and we’re excited to announce that Glee‘s Chris Colfer has taken the crown! March Celebrity Madness is almost over! The FABLife let you vote on 64 of our favorite celebs, and now only two remain to compete for the title!
In one corner we have Bruno Mars, who blasted his Singer/Songwriter competition out of the water (including Taylor Swift and Adele), and bested Hailee Steinfeld and Mila Kunis only to face his toughest competition from Kingston Rossdale, who had already trumped Ryan Gosling and Katy Perry. Bruno barely pushed past Gwen Stefani‘s little boy in the Final 4, winning by less than a percentage point.
Meanwhile, Glee‘s Chris Colfer stands victorious after a knock-down drag-out round with Gerard Butler, who had handily defeated Robert Pattinson, J-Woww and Scott Disick in earlier rounds. Colfer previously faced challenges from Dianna Agron, Irina Shayk and Donald Glover.
So who will it be: Mr. “Grenade” or Mr. Glee? The poll will be open until 10am Est on Monday,...

When you're starring in a hit TV show that loves to spoof pop culture, regularly employs unbelievable storylines and literally has no rules, the idea of a "dream episode" could certainly become a reality.
I'm hoping that's the case with Donald Glover's ultimate 'Community' episode.
Imagine Chevy Chase as a crazy old doctor, obsessed with time travel; Alison Brie as a hot teen of the 1980s, complete with faded denim jacket; and Joel McHale as a beefed-up bully in the 1950s. Then let your jaws drop as Donald Glover zooms by on his hoverboard, collar popped, jamming to some Huey Lewis.
Yes, I'm asking you to imagine a time, with or without the help of a DeLorean, when we might be lucky enough to see a 'Back to the Future' episode of 'Community.'

The FABLife is playing March Celebrity Madness this month, putting 64 of our favorite stars into brackets and having you vote to decide our ultimate Fab icon. First we’ll be pitting four similar celebs against each other in the divisionals, with the winners pairing (and squaring) off in our Sweet 16 until only one is left standing. It’s just like the Ncaa, except…ok, it’s nothing like the Ncaa.
Our fourth category concerns the cult smash Community, clearly one of the coolest comedies on TV, containing one of the cutest casts as well (that’s called “alliteration,” fyi). While it pains us to leave the rest of stars off the poll (especially the exceptionally alliterative Gillian Jacobs and Chevy Chase), we had to go with Soup server Joel McHale, Mad Men minx Alison Brie, shoulda-been-Spider-Man Donald Glover and darling Danny Pudi for our featured four (it never gets old,...

By now the new Muppets movie has added so many celebrity cameos, that I.ve lost track of who.s confirmed to be in it and who isn.t. So forgive me if we.ve reported this before, but Ricky Gervais and Emily Blunt are sneaking onto The Muppets set for a bit parts, according to THR. Also rumored to be joining the cast (at least according to a post from a relative of his on Facebook is Mickey Rooney. Yeah, that Mickey Rooney. Celebrity cameos have always been a pretty fun part of the Muppet universe, but Jason Segel.s new take on Jim Henson.s classic characters has kind of gone overboard with them. I.m starting to get a little worried. Right now the movie has Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Zach Galifianakis, Rashida Jones, Chris Cooper, Charles Grodin, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Donald Glover, Danny...

“Glee” favorite Jane Lynch, “Community” star Donald Glover, and Machete bad ass Danny Trejo have all landed small, cameo roles in Disney’s The Muppets, reports TheWrap.
The movie, being directed by James Bobin, is about a couple (Jason Segel and Amy Adams) and their puppet friend, Walter, on a journey to reunite Jim Henson’s classic Muppets for a show to save their old television studio.
Lynch will play a prison guard and Trejo will play her prisoner in a short scene where the Muppets wind up behind bars for harassing celebrities to participate in their benefit show. Glover’s role was not specified.
Paul Rudd was initially named as the voice of Walter, but Production Weekly quickly corrected their report. Michael Cera has also been rumored for the role.
Other cameos include the previously announced Zach Galifianakis as “Hobo Jo”, Jack Black and Sean Penn as themselves, and Ms.

When you talk to 'Community' creator Dan Harmon, you have to expect to hear a certain amount of verbal gymnastics in his replies to your questions.
For instance, when our conversation turned to what he thought of one of his stars, Alison Brie, who does double-duty on 'Mad Men,' Harmon said this: "Alison is like this stem cell when it comes to the characters she can inhabit, which is a really cool thing." When I asked him about how the bromance between Abed (Danny Pudi) and Troy (Donald Glover) will be explored this season, he said, "I want to celebrate it and I want to challenge it, and I want to challenge it by celebrating it, and I want to celebrate it by challenging it."
Sometimes, you just have to let Harmon go on his verbal journeys, which leads to very long interviews.
