Shiny Happy People
Sylviastel15 December 2022
The song, "Shiny Happy People, is performed by a different group than R. E. M. I forgot the name of this group. It is a softer version where it perfectly reminds us of all those lost in 2021. It was particularly touching to see Ruthie Thompson who was a Disney animator and legend. She died after a long life. Each frame Is exquisite done to capture their lives. TCM Remembers always captures how the lost in one year. They have over hundred people in about five minutes. Each frame is perfectly done. I loved showing Dean Stockwell as a child actor and adult performer. So many lost in one year. The five minutes video showed how much we lost in one year.

This annual feature seemed to be vastly improved . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . this year, compared to its past three or four editions. Though the list seemed a little longer than usual, the pacing appeared to be less hurried, with several of the past tense people being commemorated by two or three clips. This feature was particularly helpful for actors with multi-decade careers, such as Dean S. But T. C. M REMEMBERS 2021 spaces out each and every visual obit with a clear degree of separation, rather than jamming everybody together into a mere list of names, as done at the Academy Awards show each Spring. Still and all, around Christmas every year viewers of the Turner Movie Channel can count upon being able to quote the boy from THE SIXTH SENSE: "I keep seeing dead people."

It's hard to figure out how to word a review of . . .
cricket3027 December 2021
. . . Turner Classic Movies REMEMBERS 2021 without including any spoilers. There's probably not a name on this compilation of obituary clips that EVERYONE realizes has dropped out of the Quick Category in favor of the dead pool. Probably the same could be said for the 2020 roster of wayfarers crossing the River Styx, or, for that matter, ANY previous rendering of such a year of deaths. On a more positive note, have the people behind this annual exercise ever thought of putting together a feature about people who are still alive? Perhaps this could be made more manageable by restricting such Good News to only survivors over the age of 90 or 95.
