Dangerous but pays off

I'll be dead honest with you: I HATE the game shows on ITV1 at the moment. Sub par Wheel of Fortune, boring Jeopardy, disappointing Deal or No Deal... I could go on. What can save me? Ant and Dec (they always do to be fair).

Ant and Dec's Limitless Win is a concept that shouldn't exist for ITV's sake. If a really knowledgeable couple went on this show, ITV would be shaking in their boots. But that's the charm of this show. You've got a supportive duo for hosts, a concept that can either win you millions or send you packing even though you were close to millions and suspense.

The concept is simple. Each couple begins by answering general knowledge questions. Every question they get right gets them 5 lives. At the end of the round, the lives get counted up ready for use on the money ladder. There are 4 lifelines that the couple can use: Take Two, which has both the couple and Ant and Dec answer the question and the ladder will use the better answer, Odd or Even, which tells you whether the answer is Odd or Even, Range which tells you what the answer is In between and More Than which tells you whether the number you picked is more or less than the answer. You obtain these by going over them on the money ladder. You answer questions which have numbers as answers and you go up steps for that answer. If you go over the answer, you lose everything, if you go under the answer, you don't bank anything and lose a certain amount of lives for the difference between your guess and the answer and if you get it spot on, you bank what amount you passed and you get 5 extra lives. The couple can take the money they've banked whenever they want to.

I adore this show, although it's probably the reason as to why the other game shows on ITV1 haven't got as much money to earn as they probably wanted to.

10/10.

Ant & Dec's Limitless Win

Fair play to Ant and Dec - they could go on presenting their three big ITV shows forever, but instead have decided to test themselves with this new show.

They've been down the game show route before, and it's never quite worked, and the schedules aren't exactly bereft of them in the first place. So this does present some level of risk.

But we need to allow them to try new things. Look at Eric and Ernie, they felt a bit trapped in their format because they were worried the public wouldn't accept them for anything else. It'd be a shame for this to happen to Ant and Dec.

I thought this was ok, like many new game shows it takes a while to get to grips with the format. It's certainly not the easiest to grasp initially.

For me the biggest flaw was that it was a bit slow. The contestants seemed to have an age to work out their answers - put them under a bit of time pressure in a 'Million Pound Drop' way!

This doesn't leap out at me as being a massive hit, and whether people will accept the Geordie duo doing something different remains to be seen.

Series 2 has been upgraded from S1
stuart-6700617 July 2023
Season 2 is great, much improved from season 1...

New look and gfx (much better graphics, the ladder is bigger and brighter), new music questions (are lots of fun to play) and Ant & Dec are now a lifeline! (they give an answer as well as the contestants).

Any and Dec also have much more fun with the format and the pacing is much quicker than series 1.

All in all, the upgrades have worked brilliantly and a good show is now a really good.

Some people were wondering if number questions would sustain, but judging from season 2 I'd say it's getting better.

Well worth a watch, and my top tip - have a tape measure handy!!!

Slow quiz

Warning: Spoilers
Exciting to a point but too slow and convaluted. Does not need 2 presenters. And how many questions can you ask with a numerical answer. Got bored towards the end.

Boring

It's politically correct and boring. Ant and dec are not even that funny. It's all so confusing but always the adverts are not too long. I would not waste your time.
