- Max gets his mother to sign off on selling the lawn care business. He hasn't seen her two years and is shocked by what he finds. Kate leaves on her trip to Japan but does so without saying goodbye to anyone, much to Tara's annoyance. Events in Japan conspire against her even getting out of the airport however. Tara is planning a baby shower but Charmaine doesn't think she's helping so Alice emerges and neatly organizes everything. When Tara and Charmaine go grocery shopping T emerges causing her usual havoc.—garykmcd
- Tara is stretching herself thin between college and planning a baby shower for an unappreciative Charmaine, causing Tara to transition. With no time to rest, Tara's alters begin to fight for control of the body, with terrible consequences for Charmaine...Kate's Japan plans are almost derailed by a natural disaster, but a chance meeting with a beautiful flight attendant leaves Kate to wonder if there are better possibilities to pursue without leaving the country. Meanwhile, Max must visit his compulsive hoarder mom Sandy to get her signature and sell the family business to OrgaLawn. A few days later, Marshall returns with Max to help clean his Grandma's house and learns some things about his father's past that make him worry about the strength of his own family ties.—Showtime Publicity
- Open with Max on the phone with his mother Sandy making plans to stop by so she can sign over documents for the sale of the business. Tara is in bed working on Charmaine's baby shower, which only a handful of people will be attending. She having trouble with the fact Kate is leaving in the morning.
Kate leaves before anyone wakes up, leaving just a note. This pisses off Tara who thinks she deserved a good-bye. Marshall has everybody say their good-byes to Kate even though she's not there. Tara is emotional.
At the airport Kate talks a business man's ear off about her trip to Japan and the new direction her life is taking. He points her to a TV where the news is talking about the earthquake/tsunami which has just leveled the country.
Tara and Charmaine meet with a cake maker about cupcakes for the shower. Tara is stressed about a class coming up and doesn't seem into the planning. Charmaine notices and isn't thrilled with her sister's efforts with regards to the shower. This starts a fight, leading to Alice making an appearance.
Max shows up at Sandy's place. She lets him in the house to use the bathroom and he notices she seems to be hoarding stuff through the residence. He looks concerned.
Alice takes full control of planning, putting together hand-written invitations and working on favors for the guests. Charmaine says she'd rather have Tara help and they both agree Kate leaving is getting to her. Alice tells Charmaine about an arrangement the alters have to help Tara. Alice gets up to feel the baby kicking. This turns her back to Tara and she promptly realizes she's late for class.
Kate is back at home talking with a rep from her work program. They tell her it will take a month for her school to be repaired and she wonders if there are other locations. Tara comes home from her study group and learns Kate is still home. Most of the people in the group were just there to see if she'd transition. Tara had to hold Buck back. Max tells her his mother is "buried in garbage" and plans to go back with Marshall. Kate has gotten another Japanese assignment (Niigata) and leaves the following day.
And exhausted Tara heads up to bed, but the instant her head hits the pillow she turns into Buck. We see Buck arrive at the home of another Bryce Craine. This one turns out to be African-American.
Kate leaves the next day in a more traditional way. Tara walks in the door just before she leaves, having been up all night as Buck. Before Tara can start studying Charmaine grabs her to help with shower stuff.
Max starts taking some of the stuff out of his mother place. She gets upset when he starts grabbing some rubber ducks she says his father loved. He yells back that he's never coming back and Sandy storms off.
In an airport bathroom a flight attendant tells Kate that at one point she was in her position. She's still searching for her "someplace perfect." When Kate mentions Niigata the flight attendant gives an alarmed "oh dear."
Sandy tells Marshall how much she loves Christmas. He apologizes for them not coming to visit more and she says she thinks Max is upset she didn't come to his wedding. She says the best thing Marshall's grandfather did was get away from her, that the "Gregson boys have to have themselves some crazy." She correctly guesses that he is gay and asks him what it's like: "It's like Christmas every day."
At the grocer story Charmaine tells Tara she's upset not only that so many people aren't coming to her shower, but that most didn't bother to RSVP.
At the dump Max tells Marshall that his mother gave his father the same rubber ducks as gifts every year. He didn't think he dad likes them and imagines that's one of the reasons he left. Marshall asks his dad if he every thinks of leaving. Max doesn't answer.
Just before boarding the plane Kate starts to panic about the city and the flight attendant's comment.
In the grocery store Charmaine starts talking about Kate and her baby. Tara tells her it's been a hard day and sends her to produce. She grabs a Red Bull and transitions to T. Charmaine sees this and follows T to the parking lot, jumping in front of her car when she tries to leave. Charmaine yells at T that she's not going to let his happen to her again. T eventually put the car into reverse and peels straight back. Another car T-bones and we see Charmaine's water break.
