Avalanche's Generation Zero is a stylish sci-fi shooter that's atmospheric but empty.

Release Date: March 26, 2019
Platforms: PS4 (reviewed), Xbo, PC
Developer: Avalanche Studios
Publisher: Avalanche Studios
Genre: Online Survival Shooter
From the moment I first saw the footage of rusting robots stalking through farmland, I was eager to play Generation Zero, Avalanche Studio’s experiment in bringing moody sci-fi to their native Sweden, all wrapped up in an '80s aesthetic. Wonder turned to tedium quickly. Reviewing games is always a race against the clock: I needed to experience as much as I could in a short amount of time. It didn’t help that a bug prevented me from crossing out of the first area until a merciful soul from Reddit solved the problem. But even playing as Generation Zero is meant to be played, out in the wide world with a team of hunters, the experience is a slog.

On this season of “Saturday Night Life,” White House strategist Steve Bannon has appeared as the Grim Reaper. There’s a lot of comic license there, but one of the people interviewed for Frontline’s new film, “Bannon’s War,” says his interest in destruction is real. Frontline notes that before Bannon worked in the White House, he made a film about a supposedly imminent apocalyptic war called “Generation Zero.” “There’s an almost fetishistic desire to see everything blow up,” The Washington Post’s Ann Hornaday tells Frontline in the clip, above. Magnet Releasing is diving into the pre-election political mix with an all-rights deal to distribute “Occupy Unmasked,” the latest documentary from Citizens United Productions that features the late conservative firebrand Andrew Breitbart. To maximize potential exposure for the politically contentious film, Magnet plans a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release in late September, just six weeks before the presidential election. Citizens United has already had a tremendous impact on the national campaign: its controversial 2008 documentary “Hillary: The Movie” led to a Supreme Court decision that rolled back restrictions on large donations. “Occupy Unmasked” writer-director Stephen K. Bannon has also made the politically charged films “Battle for America,” “Fire From the Heartland” and “Generation Zero” for the company. In “Unmasked,” Breitbart and colleagues Brandon Darby, David Horowitz, Pam...

Ok, so it's not Sarah Palin's 'The Undefeated,' it's just 'The Undefeated,' a documentary by Stephen Bannon about the former Alaska governor, former vice-presidential candidate, and most-likely would-be presidential candidate for 2012. But it is 100 percent Sarah Palin.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which had a reporter at the documentary's world premiere in Iowa recently, the first 10 minutes of the film features entertainers using vulgar language targeted at Palin -- as a way, we suspect, of showing how nasty, evil and mean Hollywood celebrities can be (a favorite ploy of politicians "fed up" with so-called liberal Hollywood).
"It makes you want to reach out to some of these folks and say, 'What's your problem?'," Palin told THR.

A forgotten Sarah Palin who worked with Democrats to pass landmark legislation emerges in the new documentary The Undefeated. Shushannah Walshe gets an early look and talks to director Stephen K. Bannon.
The Undefeated, a glowing, dramatic documentary about Sarah Palin's history from the former Alaska governor's point of view, is the latest step in Palin's effort to reframe her image ahead of a potential presidential run. And it may succeed in bringing in conservatives who loved her in 2008 but have been turned off since.

Sarah Palin, who until recently was absolutely, positively not running for president, according to Beltway pundits, suddenly looks like she's doing exactly that. The biggest hint so far: a feature-length film that touts her record as governor and aims to lay to rest lingering worries about her widely criticized decision to resign as governor of Alaska. Scott Conroy of RealClearPolitics has seen a rough cut of the film, which was made by conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon and will premiere in Iowa next month. Whatever you think of the lady's politics, you have to admit that Sarah Palin is a wizard at promoting her brand. She's written books, starred on a reality show, cameoed on "Saturday Night Live" and convinced her daughter to compete on "Dancing with the Stars." Really, the only thing left to do is make a movie.
Or, rather, the only thing left to do was make a movie.
Shot under the radar of the general public and now revealed by RealClearPolitics (via Movieline), a two-hour documentary on the former Alaska governor's life and rise to political success is on the way to theaters. Titled "The Undefeated," the film has been secretly crafted by director Stephen K. Bannon -- who previously helmed conservative documentaries "Battle for America" and "Generation Zero," as well as producing Julie Taymor's "Titus" -- and is said to be something of a call-to-arms for Palin's upcoming 2012 presidential campaign.

HBO's Sarah Palin-John McCain movie Game Change, with Julianne Moore playing the former Alaska governor, has competition from a feature film that will get to the screen first. It's the biopic Undefeated authorized by Palin, made by conservative filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon (Generation Zero celebrating the Tea Party movement, and In The Face Of Evil lionizing President Reagan), and set to premiere in late June in Iowa and then other early presidential primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina and Nevada. Then the film will eventually release into between 50 and 100 markets nationwide. It may also have a DVD life since there are preliminary discussion about purchasing copies of the film from Bannon to distribute as gifts to SarahPAC donors. And Bannon is counting on a video-on-demand deal. Partisan filmmaking is a long tradition of recent presidential campaigns but usually as brief documentaries shown at Democratic National Conventions,...

Political junkie that I am, I always enjoy watching films by Michael Moore and Dave Bossie and am grateful that I live in a country where robust political dialogue is not just tolerated but encouraged. Citizens United's founder and president, Dave Bossie, came to Hollywood last night to give us a sneak peak at his latest film, Generation Zero. After watching it, two thoughts come to mind: First, if you are a left-of-center baby boomer, this movie will infuriate you. For although Bossie and writer/director Stephen K. Bannon spread the blame around to many parties (and not just liberals) they take particular aim at baby boomers for creating a culture of indulgence and facilitating the idea that people who don't actually produce anything can nonetheless reap rewards as though they did. Second, I will never look at an episode of Leave It...
