Kai Anderson is a master manipulator. Since well before the Presidential election that kicked off the drama of Cult, he's been collecting followers a person, a piece at a time. Every person Kai has collected within his little group of followers has come via a different method. For each one, he's managed to figure out just how to reach out to them by painstakingly researching them, both online and face to face, and tailoring his argument to that individual.
Granted, Kai's general patter is roughly the same. He's all about turning fear and anger into power. He makes himself into whatever the person he's speaking to needs when they need him.

Its kind of ridiculous to think I can’t even type a review of ‘American Horror Story: Cult‘ so far without worrying about someone reading into it the wrong way. That may just be my own personal paranoia (or phobia if you will) but the truth is I struggle to talk about this years storyline without worrying who sides with who. And for viewers picking a side..I hate to say it, but you’re watching wrong. The whole point of Paulson and Peters’ character is to give you an extreme perspective of the political spectrum. A lot of viewers seem to translate that into Democrat vs. Republican. That’s not what I am saying in the slightest. If you have watched these first three episodes, then you already realize neither of these characters actually represent the principals of either party. Instead, they showcase the intolerable aspects of people using...

Turbo movie box office: A costly disappointment-in-the-making? DreamWorks Animation / 20th Century Fox’s Turbo debuted on Wednesday at 3,551 North American locations, grossing a barely passable $5.55 million according to figures found at Box Office Mojo. True, Turbo isn’t a sequel like Despicable Me 2 or Monsters University, but the 3D animated feature cost a reported $135 million. Could Turbo be thus considered a domestic box-office flop-in-the-making? Well, that’s much too early to tell, as animated films at times develop sturdy legs — and not only in the U.S. and Canada, but elsewhere as well. (Image: Turbo snail racer.) (Friday, July 19, update: Following a solid Thursday midnight debut, it looks like the domestic weekend box office will belong to the low-budget horror movie The Conjuring. The paragraph below has been slightly amended to reflect that.) Box-office pundits had been expecting Turbo to top the domestic box-office chart this weekend, with approximately $28-30 million,...

Enlightened Adds SNL Alum Molly Shannon for Season 2
It looks like Amy Jellicoe has gained an ally in her bid to bring down Abaddon.
According to Deadline, Molly Shannon has joined HBO's Enlightened for its second season. She's set to play an executive assistant at the corporation that inadvertently fuels Amy's investigation into Abaddon's shady practices. Shannon's character is said to also be a love interest for Tyler (creator Mike White).
At the end of Enlightened's first season, Amy (Golden Globe winner Laura Dern) finally grew tired of the endless corporate bureaucracy and discouraging apathy she had encountered since her return to the working world. Her newfound sunny disposition, honed during her retreat, gave way a little bit to Amy's desire for change and feeling of connection to the world at large, with Abaddon's disregard for anything other than its profit margin pushing her to burn it down. Chris Brown lives in West Hollywood no more. The news was recently confirmed by his neighbors who told TMZ how ecstatic they were to find out that Breezy no longer live near them. It's unclear whether the "Kiss Kiss" singer left the pad permanently or not because he has not sold the unit.
The 22-year-old R&B singer might be giving up after getting many complaints from his neighbors. It's rumored that he had a quarrel with his neighbors due to his bad behavior. They described him as a nightmare and even called him "Neighbors From Hell".
The neighbors spilled that he often parked in spaces for disable drivers, and planned to tow Chris' car if he ever did it again. The singer, however, defended himself by saying, "My parking spaces in my building that were assigned to me when I [bought] this crib are painted over with handicap and no Parking signs.

The Annie Awards, Animation's Highest Honor, went all the way for DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon!" The fun, animated film, originally received 15 nominations and won 10 trophies including Best Animated Feature.
Given by the International Animated Film Society, the 38th annual Annie Awards was not without controversy. Apparently, Disney and Pixar announced they would no longer participate in the annual awards because of their concerns over how the event is judged.
The studios claimed the Annie Awards have always been slighted towards DreamWorks Animation. And this year, both DreamWorks film ("How to Train Your Dragon") and TV ("Kung Fu Panda Holiday") topped the Annie Awards.
"Dragon," featuring the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrara, Jonah Hill, and Craig Ferguson, beat Annie contenders such as Universal's "Despicable Me," Disney's "Tangled," Sony Pictures Classics' "The Illusionist," and Pixar's "Toy Story 3" for best animated feature. With awards season is underway comes the 38th Annual Annie Award nominations, which recognize the year’s best work in animation. Since the creation of the animation-specific Oscar category in 2001, the Annies have predicted the Academy Award winner every year except 2006 and 2008.
Unfortunately, the award has been tainted by controversy after CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg reportedly bought each DreamWorks Animation employee a membership in the International Animated Film Society, Asifa-Hollywood, skewing the voting in the studio’s favor. This likely resulted in a surprise sweep by DreamWorks Animations’ Kung Fu Panda at the Annies in 2008-2009 over Pixar’s eventual Oscar winner, Wall-e.
Disney Studios has since pulled its official support of the event and submissions for the awards, though individual animators are able to submit their films themselves. As a result, the rules were changed for individual achievement categories, but Disney sought a neutral committee of animators from every studio to propose and approve guidelines.

The International Animated Film Society, Asifa-Hollywood, announced nominations today for the 38th Annual Annie Awards™ recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation including best animated feature, television production, commercials, short subjects, video games and outstanding individual achievements.
Two years ago, Kung-Fu Panda swept the awards over Wall-e pushing Disney and Pixar to withdraw from the organization and making everyone else wonder if there is any point in caring anymore about the ceremony. Toy Story 3 and Tangled did get Best Picture nominations, but DreamWorks (who pretty much run the show) lead the nominees.
According to /film, Disney’s reason for withdrawing was rooted in the organization’s very loose membership requirements and the fact that DreamWorks seemed actively working to stack the deck in the studio’s favour. Disney-Pixar president Ed Catmull said earlier this year,
“After more than a year of discussions with the Asifa board,...

The full list of nominations for the 38th Annie Awards were announced today with Dreamworks’s How to Train your Dragon gathering up the majority of nominations including Best Feature, Animation, Character Design and Voice Work for Gerard Butler and Jay Baruchel, as well as Directing nominations for Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois.
Pixar’s Up took home the Best Animated Feature earlier this year at the 2009 awards and when the awards are announced next February Lee Unkrich and his team are up from a number of awards, along with Disney’s Tangled, but the recent decision of Disney to withdraw support for the awards may go some way to explaining the relatively few number of nods.
It has been a great year for animation as the films on the list below attest, and it’s nice to see Sylvain Chomet’s enchanting film The Illusionist scoring a point against the domination of CG here.

Apparently, Disney was complaining that the Annie Awards has favored DreamWorks in recent years such as when "Kung Fu Panda" won 10 trophies and beat Pixar's "Wall-e" in 2008.
This year, DreamWorks Animation...

The month of December, January, and February pretty much means near-daily updates of award nominations and selections. The latest is for the 38th Annual Annie Awards, awarding excellence in the animation area. Leading the pack is How To Train Your Dragon, a film I recently re-watched and loved just as much as in the theater. Also getting big nods are Despicable Me, Tangled, The Illusionist, and Toy Story 3. Check out the full list below.

Disney has tough competition in the form of itself this year, as “Tangled” and “Toy Story 3″ will compete against one another, along with a host of other fantastic animated films, at the 38th Annual Annie Awards.
The Annie Awards will be a battleground for the upcoming Oscar animation awards. This year, only three animated films will be nominated. Why? Because the rules that govern the Oscars are laughably outmoded. But that’s beside the point.
Fact is, the Annie Awards deserve attention amongst the many other awards shows because so many great animated films were released in 2010, arguably more than traditional films. “Tangled,” “Toy Story 3,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Despicable Me” and “The Illusionist” will jostle for the Best Animated Feature award.
Here’s a list of all the nominees.

The International Animated Film Society Asifa-Hollywood has announced the nominees for the 38th Annual Annie Awards, and the DreamWorks feature How to Train Your Dragon leads the pack with more than ten nods. But there's a caveat; that and the full list of nominations after the break. This will be the first Annie Awards after Disney and Pixar withdrew from the organization [1] that organizes the awards. Toy Story 3 and Tangled did get Best Picture nominations, and Lee Unkrich was nominated Best Director. But in the feature deaprtment this is DreamWorks' show, with a few nods toward the Warner Bros. film Legend of the Guardians and a scant few other features such as The Illusionist. Disney's reason for withdrawing was rooted in the organization's very loose membership requirements (read: almost non-existent requirements, until recently) and the fact that DreamWorks seemed actively working to stack the deck in the studio's favor.

Neighbors From Hell is a new animated show starring Patton Oswalt, Will Sasso, and Molly Shannon. When Satan learns that Petromundo, a huge global conglomerate, has created a super-drill that could potentially burrow to the center of the earth and expose Hell, he sends one of demons to eliminate the problem. The demon is Balthazor, a low-level torturer who has amassed an encyclopedic knowledge of the human condition thanks to his love of classic TV sitcoms. Balathazor and his family head to earth with one mission: to blend in with the humans and figure out how to destroy the drill, thus protecting Hell. It was created by writer Pam Brady (Team America: World Police, South Park) who also did the underrated show The Loop. Check it out mondays on TBS.

TBS is hoping to heat things up this summer with its new animated series Neighbors From Hell (premiering tonight, 10 p.m. Et). The series follows a family of demons attempting to fit in amongst the “normal” residents of Texas suburbia, and features the voices of Molly Shannon, Patton Oswalt, and Will Sasso. Funnylady Shannon recently spoke to EW about the evilness of her character Tina Hellman, her Saturday Night Live homecoming, and her guest spot on Glee. (Glee writers take note: We want Brenda Castle back for season two!).

Chicago – Coming from the punishing fires has never been wackier in the new animated TV series from TBS, “Neighbors From Hell.” Featuring the voice talent of Patton Oswalt, Molly Shannon and Kurtwood Smith, Neighbors reminds us that our current paradise is closer to actual hell than ever before.

Belthazor Hellman (voice of Will Sasso) is a low level torturer in hell, obsessed with family sitcoms from earth (”that kid is not so much of a ‘Half’ anymore”). On reassignment from Satan, Belthazor is charged with taking his family onto the earth’s surface to prevent a giant drill, created by Petromundo Co., from infiltrating the homeland fires at the planet’s core.

hollywoodnews.com: Molly Shannon is bracing herself for response to “Neighbors From Hell,” the TBS animated series debuting Monday (6/7), about a family of demons living on Earth. Some of the humor — from “South Park” writer Pam Brady — will make viewers blanch (a neighbor has an inappropriate relationship with her suicidal poodle). As for how audiences will react to “how wild it gets? God, I don’t know,” says Shannon. “That’s something I have no control over. I hope it’s okay.”

You say the Neighbors From Hell main title is very unique, what makes it different from other main titles you have worked on to date?
For the main title I was directed to make it ‘Sherwood Schwartz’-style, which are those classic catchy titles from the 70s that told you in 30 seconds Exactly what the show was about such as Gilligan’s Island and the Brady Bunch. I’m proud of this one because it quickly gives a great sense of the overall mood and characters, in a really fun comedic way driven by another catchy song. It’s country meets heavy metal,...

In June TBS will debut the horror-themed animated television series Neighbors from Hell. From the satirical mind of Pam Brady, whose work includes projects such as South Park and The Loop comes a story of the Hellmans, a typical all American suburban family with one exception — they happen to hail from Hell. Check below for a full synopsis and link to their website.
Synopsis:
“Neighbors From Hell” centers on the Hellmans, a typical all-American suburban family with Balthazor; his wife, Tina; their two children, Mandy and Josh; and their dog, Pazuzu. They’re your average family who happen to hail from Hell. They have been sent to Earth to pose as normal suburbanites with a mission to keep humans from drilling their way to Hell. Their task is made all the more complicated by Balthazor’s growing affection for humans and their odd but endearing qualities, but as long as...

With the new animated series Neighbors From Hell and the recently-announced Conan O'Brien show deal, it looks like TBS is getting serious about being the place to go for funny.
Comedy Central may have South Park, but Neighbors From Hell could give the aging cartoon a run for its money -- because it was created by Pam Brady, whose name South Park fans will recognize from the ending credits. You might also recognize her face, too, as she appeared in the season three episode "Tweek Vs. Craig" as shop teacher Mr. Adler's tragically dead lady love.
Brady's created shows before (Fox's short-lived The Loop, for instance) but this will be her first animated series. It premieres June 7th, and it's got a lot of funny potential based on the preview on EW.com.
A family who live in Hell, where they're tortured for eternity by being forced to watch bad television shows.

In TBS' new animated series Neighbors From Hell (debuting June 7), a family from the underworld — where Satan tortures his wards with endless reruns of bad TV — comes to live among mortals and faces an even ruder awakening. "They think everything will be like a sitcom," explains series creator Pam Brady. "They look around and realize the real neighbors from hell are humans in the suburbs." So what would be playing in Brady's personal vision of hell? "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," she says. "On a constant loop." (Keith Staskiewicz)...
