When Thomas shows the hand-scrawled note to Dr. Lauren, he reads it as "Maron." But when Ellen originally wrote it, her hand trailed off the paper, leaving the end of the word scribbled on the glass of the table. Dr. Lauren would have only seen the word "Marc" on the paper.
When the glass breaks and Sam and the mother go to check, the cupboard is open and shows the cups. Later when Thomas goes to get a drink, the cup is set down and seems to sound as if it is plastic.
A paragraph at the end of the film begins "It is the opinion of those closely realted to the Finley family..." and so on. "Realted" is a misspelling. It should read "those closely related."
The 911 Operator says the police code '217' as 'two seventeen' but all police dispatch codes would be pronounced as single numbers, or 'two one seven.'
When the mum is laying on her bed asleep, you then hear what sounds like loud footsteps that stops outside her bedroom door. She then sits up in a trance/daze and her bedroom door opens what seems like by itself, but if you look closer it looks like a hand quickly moves away from the door knob when it's opened from the outside.
When the mother and Samantha are sitting at the table after the night when the cross falls off the wall, the phone rings and sounds to be right beside the camera. However, Thomas gets up to answer it. Then it rings a second time yet it sounds far away.
After Thomas follows the trail of ashen footprints into the basement of the house, the camera briefly reveals an aluminum pan full of "ash" and the wooden "foot" used by the crew to make the "ghostly" trail.
