Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are set to return to This Morning for a two-hour 25th anniversary special in October.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Madeley - who left the ITV programme with co-presenter and wife Finnigan in 2001 - revealed: "[When] it comes under attack, our immediate reflex response is to defend it.
"If This Morning f**ks up, as any show that runs from day to day is going to from time to time, whatever the mistake or alleged mistake is, if you ring us up and say, 'What do you want to say about it?' Whatever we think, we'll defend it."
