The film showcases the Negrense theater production "Handurao sang Ca-untao" which was originally created by Peque Gallaga, Lore Reyes, Don Escudero, and Elsie Coscolluela in 1991, and restaged in 2001 at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Philippines. The film replicates an identical set design of the play with the original cast performing on the same stage, forty years later.
The names of all the characters in the film have a significant connection to the life and work of Peque Gallaga.
About eighty percent of the cast and crew are either related to or have worked with the late director. Peque Gallaga was a great teacher and had hundreds of students, most of which are involved in the film.
