Great Julianna Margulies
juan_1710 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This episode of "The Good Wife" is one of the best I have seen so far. The appearance by the most important partner of the firm was a good way to develop the plot into this episode. And of course, that the very same person, whose work built up the firm, demands to be represented by Alicia was the perfect equation to start the episode.

The acting by Margulies is excellent. She's more emotional here, and much more interesting to see, than in the pilot, when it all started. She had scenes with her kids, her mother-in-law, her husband, her client, Will, Kalinda. This actress had a chance to shine with almost every possible character in this episode, and she did a wonderful job with all of them.

And finally, a few words to those complaining about the term "Muslim music". The only one who uses that term, to talk about what Zach was listening to in his room, is his grandmother, the very same character who thinks that he should go to church more often because he was with a girl in his room. And even when she tells his mother about this, Alicia can't help but laugh, almost like she wasn't a bit concerned. Think about it.

Mrs. Florrick Flourishes ***
edwagreen30 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Ms. Margulies is stupendous in her role as Alicia Florrick. She is doing an outstanding job in juggling her law career, family and dealing with a family scandal of major proportions.

In this episode, her son is caught with a young lady in his room and Alicia literally reads him the riot act.

We also see her again in action in court when one of the partners of the firm is arrested for erratic driving and harassing a police officer. Ms. Florrick goes into full mode in his defense and in the process, she comes up with the real reason why the head partner has been acting in the way he has.

Julianne Margulies is cool, calculated and is ready to burst out in an eventual tirade against her husband, the disgraced state attorney.

I checked the spoiler because I'm reaching the point that I want her to burst out already.

[7.1] The magnet

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 9: some matters of average to above-average interest in this episode, centered on things out of court mainly, very few surrounding plots, sub-plots and mostly parental control and guidance.

The company founder's "arc" weren't at all interesting, that's my view and others' may differ, while in all those minutes Julianna Margulies simply shines; she's more confident, wittier and more charismatically magnetic than when her saga in the pilot started.

Plotline ripped straight from Boston Legal
brownceh30 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, we are introduced to previously absent third partner of the firm, Jonas Stern. For anyone who has watched Boston Legal, the parallels between Stern and William Shatner's character Denny Crane are unmistakable. Both are highly successful lawyers at the end of their career, eccentric with no regard for rules, and insist on defending themselves against the advice of their other partners. To top off the blatant rip off, Stern also suffers from dementia and is why he is declining in his lawyering ability. Despite the similarities of the plot, Stern's actor, Kevin Conway, doesn't have the same charm as Shatner's Denny Crane, leaving the audience annoyed and largely unsympathetic with his antics, rather than amused.

The saving grace for the episode comes from the acting of Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth. Their acting has been the glue of the show, redeeming it from otherwise predictable storylines.

Lost interest to watch again

Warning: Spoilers
I definitely agree with perla_arabia.

I came from one of the Muslim country but live in UK quite a while already. I am one of their fan and never miss to watch every single episode of good wife. Really enjoy the series, until I saw this episode. It was such a disrespectful and insulting to have a plot like that. The fact that they called it as 'Muslim music' shows how misunderstanding it is about our religion.

They should apologise and realise how inconsiderate they are in this matter. Learn to respect other people way of life instead of mocking it. All in all, im really disappointed.
