The SVRs used in 'No Time To Die' (2021) feature the same specially tuned suspension as production models devised by engineers at Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations to deliver more responsive handling and tighter body control without compromising comfort.
Land Rover has had a long partnership with EON Productions' official James Bond film franchise and it continues with this picture. Their first association was during 1982 on 'Octopussy' (1983) which was about thirty-eight years prior to 'No Time to Die' (2021). In 'Octopussy' (1983), the Land Rover vehicle featured was a russet brown 1980 special conversion off-road Land Rover Range Rover drop-top convertible Series I 'Rapport Huntsman' vehicle seen during the film's opening sequence. Land Rover vehicles that appear in 'No Time to Die' (2020) include three makes and models: The Range Rover Classic, Range Rover Sport SVR , Series III Land Rover, and the new Land Rover Defender.
Stunt Coordinator Lee Morrison said: ''I was really keen to shoot a Bond chase sequence off-road, in a really challenging environment and the Range Rover Sport SVR was the perfect choice for this part of the story. We shoot everything for real so we've pushed it to the absolute maximum and the pursuit promises to be one of the memorable set-piece moments of the film'' Neil Layton, Action Vehicle Coordinator, added: ''All the stunts are for real. There's nothing that's CGI [computer generated imagery], so to make the cars be more dramatic on the screen we had to turn off a lot of the safety features.''
According to 'Drive', ''The Land Rovers in the film ['No Time to Die' (2021)] were largely standard, however modified suspension components and strengthened steering columns were installed to protect stunt drivers and increase durability.''
The action vehicles and stunt professionals in 'No Time to Die' (2021) pushed the most powerful Land Rover vehicles ever made to extremes. This featurette gives a taste of the high-speed action as the team explain why Range Rover SVR was the perfect vehicle for the adventure.
