Loved every episode. Very enjoyable characters & immensely entertaining to watch. Goes along the line of the movie 'Julia & Julia' with Meryl Streep. Would love to watch the original series!!

I love this show and has taught me how to cook

With great success comes influence and power, but knowing when and how to use it is a problem for many in Julia's circle. With being the kind of hit that has allowed the station to finance programs that may not have seen the light of day, Julia has power. However, there is an adjustment for all involved with this newfound power. Julia seems to have gained a slight ego as the demand grows for a second volume of Julia and Simca's cookbook. Julia was raised by a man who may not have seen her as the most feminine but did make it clear to her that their family's legacy is that of proud people, who often had to be innovative to be providers and have a purpose. With that in mind, you can see Julia do such with her show. Whether it was paying for parts of it, to cut costs, having friends help, and even doing classes to help get things done, she took on a leadership role with the type of team required to get to where she is now. This is why you have to admire that when Alice says professional, Julia doesn't see what she does as unprofessional. She recognizes what has worked to get her where she is and that these people who know her, and her process, are pros at what they do. Now, can they take those skills and maybe jump onto another show, and it is smooth sailing? Possibly not. However, they know Julia's routine. The same goes for Alice. She saw what Julia sometimes didn't when it came to the show, and while Russ gets credit for the mirror view idea, Alice is the one who got Julia on-air and sold her to other markets. She is a key pillar to her success, so even if she made a faux pas, she is part of the team, the family, and thus, while corrected, she wasn't abandoned. If anything, she was brought in closer and her place secured. So, taking the reins, when Hunter proposes a second season, Julia makes sure to secure Alice's position and give herself and her team breaks throughout the season and have the station pay for groceries. Hunter accepts all of this because, with more stations purchasing Julia's show, she has all the power here.

I am fascinated by almost every character but all together it is just ehh.

Warning: Spoilers
The acting is superb and I can't stop looking at the costumes and sets but why should I care about a story that is obviously false. Or at least I don't know what is false and what is true. To start off, there was no black female producer at Boston public television in the 1960's. I wish this had been true but I googled and it was not. This leads to a made up storyline about "what it was like to be a black female producer". A storyline that barely even acknowledges that Alice is black and certainly doesn't show Alice facing any racism at PBS, only garden variety misogyny. Then we get the added layer of portraying Julia Child as a supporter of black female advancement. Maybe that was true but probably not. Which leads me to wonder what else is a lie. Did the editor who was credited with getting Ann Frank's diary published in the United States really have to fight so hard to sell her publisher on the cookbook of a chef whose show was spreading across PBS like wildfire? Maybe she did but who knows? Did Judith really spend a week baking bread with Julia's husband? If not why add such a silly and unnecessary story. (And the My Fair Lady tie in was way over the top for even this lover of that musical.) All in all there is nothing really objectionable but not much enticing me to tune in either. My husband is really enjoying this show so I find myself tuning in despite my lack of interest.

Seems to have run off the rails

I have loved the series so far. This episode seems to be the first one concentrating on the cooking instead of the character development. I found it very slow and turned off before the end. It's not helped by Sarah Lancashire's unclear speech.

BORING episode... and so odd!

Truly bad episode of this otherwise lovely swell show. Badly written, badly directed, and just really lame pacing/story/energy. The characters in the show were so often so bored they were falling asleep watching her do her show, and I felt the same way watching this episode.
