Sex Education producer Rem Conway is to head up development for Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and Kudos’ new label.
Conway will support the Kudos Knight management team with developing a drama slate that will be produced out of Knight’s native Birmingham. The outfit has also opened a new Kudos Knight office at the Minerva Works in the West Midlands, part of Knight’s new Digbeth Loc. Studios development, where Conway will be based.
Conway’s past producer credits include Netflix smash Sex Education, ITV/Amazon Prime Video drama Riches and BBC feature My Name is Leon.
Kudos Knight, which was unveiled last year, is heavily focused on the local Birmingham talent pool and Conway will be tasked with identifying and nurturing emerging local voices and proven writes from the area. Particular focus will be given to championing under-represented and previously unheard voices.

The BBC invested £128.5 million ($165.7 million) into TV and radio content in the first two years of its Creative Diversity Commitment, a year ahead of target. In doing so, it exceeded the original commitment of £112 million into on-screen and on-air diversity and inclusion.
The commitment, which was made in 2020 – £100 million for TV and £12 million for radio – in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, was met last year with scepticism from some U.K. industry leaders who called it “smoke and mirrors.”
That sentiment appears to have been disproved with the BBC saying that it has “broadcast a huge array of TV programs across the year which authentically reflects our audiences, nurturing diverse voices and working with diverse casts and crews,” citing “My Name Is Leon,” “Avoidance,” “Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest,” “Una Marson: Caribbean Voices,” “The Wedding” and the “Women’s Euros” as examples.

Streamer BritBox has extended its production partnership with the Agatha Christie estate.
BritBox, which is jointly owned by BBC Studios and ITV, has signed on for three more productions with Agatha Christie Limited and Mamoth Screen.
The trio have already collaborated on an adaptation of Christie’s novel “Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?” (pictured above) starring Emma Thompson and Will Poulter, which will premiere on the platform in April.
BritBox have not yet confirmed which of the author’s prolific output they will be working on next but they have said each of the three adaptations will be “steered by a distinctive voice – a director, a writer or auteur – bringing an entirely new perspective and style to Agatha Christie’s novels.”
BritBox was set to make the announcement Wednesday during its portion of the Television Critics Association winter virtual press tour. As part of the announcement, Emily Powers, head of BritBox North America,...

Malachi Kirby has been cast in the leading roles of Charlie and Spider in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys,” the streaming service revealed Tuesday.
Per its official description, Amazon’s “Anansi Boys” follows Charlie, a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father, Mr. Nancy. But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that his father was Anansi: trickster god of stories. And he learns that he has a brother. Now his brother, Spider, is entering Charlie’s life, determined to make it more interesting but making it a lot more dangerous.
As previously announced, Delroy Lindo will star as Charlie and Spider’s father, Anansi/Mr. Nancy, a character who first appeared in Gaiman’s novel “American Gods.” Though that book, which has connections to “Anansi Boys,” was adapted into a now-canceled TV series at Starz, the two shows will not be connected.
