Chicago – Now in its second year, the Chicago Film Critics Festival opens tonight, May 9th, 2014, with the Chicago Premiere of “They Came Together,” starring Paul Rudd, Amy Poelher, Ellie Kemper, Bill Hader and Ed Helms, and directed by David Wain. After working in television helming episodes of Single Dads and sketches for Funny or Die Presents., Jordan Vogt-Roberts makes his feature directorial debut with The Kings of Summer. This comedy made its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won rave reviews, many of which are flaunted in the teaser above, courtesy of the film's distributor CBS Films. This teaser deliberately avoids detailing the movie's plot, and curiously avoids touting its most recognizable stars. Instead, it focuses on three nameless boys with an unmistakable chemistry goofing off in the woods. The rhythm they create is engaging. The build to the smallest's dance is weirdly satisfying. And the pull quotes from critics promise a movie that is hilarious and heartwarming, as well as reminiscent of Superbad and Stand by Me. What more could you want? Fox International Channels has launched Single Dads, an original scripted comedy web series on Hulu created by and starring comedy duo Pete Karinen and Brian Sacca of Pete And Brian and NBC.com's Fcu: Fact Checkers Unit. Single Dads chronicles the misadventures of two single fathers struggling with the responsibility of having kids: The series features the characters Pete and Brian, who met when they’ve both got kicked out of a parenting class at the local Ymca. They quickly became best friends, bonding over the fact that they both have one-year-olds—Pete Jr. and Theodore—who they are raising without the help of their mothers.
