Cotterpin's parents tell her about the story of the Doozer who didn't. This Doozer tale was published as a 1984 Fraggle Rock book titled "The Legend of the Doozer Who Didn't", written by Louise Gikow and illustrated by Barbara McClintock.
This story was adapted into a comic book by Stan Kay with art by Marie Severin and published by Marvel under their Star Comics imprint as issue number 4 of the Fraggle Rock series, cover dated October 1985. The title was changed to "The Doozer who wanted to be a Fraggle".
Doc mentions receiving a letter from Duncan. This is a reference to former series producer Duncan Kenworthy.
Cotterpin's song "The Way I've Got to Go" is sung to the same tune as Mokey's song "Kick a Stone" from Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk (1983). Both characters are voiced and performed by Kathryn Mullen.
