Sex & Nudity

  • Tully meets a girl about his age at a party. When she asks if he's trying to look down her shirt, he says "No ... yes." The two kiss shortly thereafter but it goes no further.
  • Jokes are made about the skimpy swim trunks Tully packs for Christmas vacation, with one student calling them women's underwear.
  • Angus looks at a porn magazine. A woman's breasts are shown for a second.
  • An ancient line drawing of two people having sex is briefly glimpsed in a museum.
  • Teenagers joke about a teacher supposedly 'perving on' his students.

Violence & Gore

  • A man dislocates his shoulder. It is later popped back into place (see Frightening and Intense Scenes)
  • There is a fight between 2 boys.

Profanity

  • A fairly constant stream of f-words and numerous other swear words throughout the film. 32 f-words.
  • Many other words used repeatedly, including shit and asshole, and some religious profanity (in one case chided).

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Paul smokes a pipe. Mary and Angus smoke cigarettes. Teddy smokes cigarettes and pot.
  • There are many uses of alcohol, mostly beer. Paul and Mary have some beer and another teacher is holding a glass of wine at a Christmas party.
  • Kountze and Smith smoke pot in the parking lot.
  • Constant cigarette and pipe smoking throughout the film by almost every character. Weed is smoked as well.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Angus falls in the gym and dislocates his shoulder. He then goes to the doctor and the doctor/nurse has to pop the shoulder back into the socket. Nothing is shown except a loud popping noise and screams of pain.
