Some time ago, I bought a box of Alpha Video DVDs. After all, although the production values of many of their films are rather poor, they are cheap and the only way to find many movies. One of the films I ordered was "Daughter of the Night"....a German silent film in which Bela Lugosi makes one of his earlierst screen appearances. This film turned out to be pretty dull....and they included this episode of "You Asked for It" as a bonus.
This TV spot was done three years before Lugosi's death. You cannot tell in the show, but he was a sickly drug addict in this TV appearance. He also was so in need of work that he was working with Ed Wood Jr....one of the worst filmmakers in history.
In this installment, someone wrote to the show asking to see Lugosi performing like he did of old. So, they made a mini-movie with Lugosi in cape and with lots of smoke bombs. Sadly, the rest of the show is missing....just this portion that probably made up about half the show. An interesting curio that's of interst mostly to Lugosiphiles. Hard to actually rate...so I'll leave this blank.
