- With their bond, the Darkling strangles Alina. Baghra steps in and frees Alina. She kills herself by creating the cut and sending it into herself. The Darkling holds her as she dies, and then she cuts off one of his hands.

- The crows are drugged and have vivid dreams. Kaz dreams of his brother screaming at him while dunking him in water, trying to drown him. The scene is intense. Through their bond, the Darkling reaches through to Alina and strangles her against the wall. Baghra steps in and joins. She frees Alina and sacrifices herself by creating the cut and sending it into herself. This kills her. The Darkling is distraught and as he holds her dying, she cuts off one of his hands.
