The opening brought back memories. I totally forgot the theme song but did remember how long the opening was.

The first part is "The Great Pussini". Heathcliff becomes jealous of an opera-singing cat that all the female cats swoon over, especially the female cat Heathcliff is into. He has his gang with him who do whatever Heathcliff tells them to do even or especially to their detriment. But then Heathcliff takes matters into his own paws and attempts to ruin the bad opera-singing cat's performance. Which he does and gets a pawing performance from the audience for his pithy singing.

The second part is "Kitty Kat Kennels" (the initials may not have been a good idea) and Riff Raff helps out Cleo who's owner is going out of town and locking her up in a kennel. They attempt to break into the kennel unsuccessfully until Mongo secures the door but then as they escape he lets go of the door and they get trapped inside and they spend the rest of the segment attempting to get out.

I've re-watched old cartoons from my childhood and wondering why I even liked them, or I couldn't believe I liked them. This is not one of those cartoons. While I probably enjoyed it more as a kid it still, these many years later, has appeal -- if not memories than at least something old becoming something new again.
