- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] please don't say my name or react openly on what I'm about to tell you
- President Allison Taylor: Yes?
- Jack Bauer: President Hassan is no longer in my custody: he got away and his trying to hand himself over to the terrorists, that's why the bomb didn't detonate
- President Allison Taylor: I'm afraid I don't understand
- Jack Bauer: You are being betrayed by General Brucker. Forty minutes ago, we were attacked by mercenaries under his command
- President Allison Taylor: Go on
- Jack Bauer: We managed to fight off the attack but President Hassan turned himself over to one of them: in an effort to stop the bomb from going off. As we speak, their preparing to hand him over to the terrorists. I'm assuming that is still unacceptable to you?
- President Allison Taylor: That is correct
- Jack Bauer: General Brucker is in charge of this operation: his in communication with the terrorists, I need to know where the exchange is going to take place. Ma'am, you need to confront him now
- President Allison Taylor: I understand
- Jack Bauer: As soon as you have anything, please contact CTU
- President Allison Taylor: [Before hanging up] I will
- President Allison Taylor: Where is President Hassan?
- President Allison Taylor: [When Weiss doesn't respond] damn you, where is he?
- Rob Weiss: I don't know
- President Allison Taylor: [Slaps him] don't lie to me: tell me where he is
- Rob Weiss: No ma'am, I cannot and if this makes any difference, this was not an easy decision
- President Allison Taylor: It makes no difference at all, it wasn't your decision to make
- Rob Weiss: With all due respect, you were not elected to sentence tens of thousands Americans to death
- President Allison Taylor: Is that how you justify this? You have sold out a peace I committed this Administration to
- Rob Weiss: I protected New York and given you "plausible deniability" in an impossible situation
- President Allison Taylor: I don't want "deniability", I want Hassan: we are on the verge of a peace that has eluded this planet for fifty years and you are throwing it away. Tell me where he is
- President Allison Taylor: [When Weiss doesn't respond again] the charge is treason: it carries the death penalty and so help me God, I will throw the switch myself. Tell me where he is. It's not too late
- President Omar Hassan: You don't have to do this: you can pull over right now, just stop the car
- Tarin Faroush: Believe me, I want to do this
- President Omar Hassan: If you hate me so much, stand against me at home. Fight me honorably
- Tarin Faroush: I don't need to fight you, you've already lost
- President Omar Hassan: [sighs] so tell me what's the plan? Put me on trial? In front of a video camera I suppose? A man hiding a mask reading a list of my crimes, cut off my head with a sword? The world will be impressed
- Tarin Faroush: You've done worse in your prisons
- President Omar Hassan: Whatever I did, I did to unite our country: to make us stronger
- Tarin Faroush: [Irritated] that's a lie. You just wanted to hand us over to the Americans
- President Omar Hassan: No, I wanted us to rejoin the world, I wanted us to have peace
- Tarin Faroush: [Raises his voice] you wanted the cover on Time Magazine. You think I don't know you? I watched over you day and night remember? Watched over you while you betrayed your wife with a western whore. You care about nothing but yourself
- President Omar Hassan: Yes, I've made mistakes but believing in peace was not one of them
- Tarin Faroush: Think whatever you like. You won't be around to find out
- Dana Walsh: [Surprised to see him in the server room] what're you doing here?
- Arlo Glass: I was going to ask you the same
- Dana Walsh: Cole asked me to check on the trunk line
- Arlo Glass: [Gesturing to the other side of the room] the trunk line is over here
- Dana Walsh: I can do it from over here also, I set up the system you know?
- Arlo Glass: Right, sorry: maybe you can explain why they keep going down?
- Dana Walsh: We were hit with a massive Electromagnetic pulse, it's a miracle we managed to get anything up and running as fast as we did
- Arlo Glass: [Walks closer to the computer station] so what are you doing now?
- Dana Walsh: [Becoming irritated by his questions] I'm running a diagnostic on the trunk line
- Arlo Glass: [Confused] why were you looking at a map of Manhattan if you're running an internal diagnostic?
- Dana Walsh: [Turns her head to face him] I was checking the progress of the operation: how do I my work isn't any of your business
- Arlo Glass: Actually, given the amount of times I had to cover for you, I think it is my business
- Dana Walsh: [Stands up from the work station] fine, you want to check up on me? Go ahead
- Dana Walsh: [after he sits down] you're really going to do this?
- Arlo Glass: Yeah, I am. So where are the diagnostics?
- Dana Walsh: In the systems folder, where their always are
- Arlo Glass: [Turns his head to face her] I mean where on your screen? I thought you said you were working on this?
- Dana Walsh: I wasn't using diagnostics, I was monitoring the voltage fluctuation in the trunk line
- Arlo Glass: Really? How?
- Dana Walsh: I thought you knew everything?
