This focuses principally on three figures in the wake of Carson's departure: David Letterman, Jay Leno, and Conan O'Brien. Because NBC did not want to lose O'Brien, they promised him Leno's spot after five years. When the time came, Leno was given a nightly primetime show which was a disaster. Conan lasted a few weeks and they brought back Leno, betraying the talented redhead. Letterman continued to finish second in the ratings which was still a powerful position. This led to more jockeying in the Late Late slot, with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel coming on board. Anyway, it was cool because I had forgotten the five year deal. This series is quite wonderful. We also get a glimpse of John Stewart and the Daily Show and Stephen Colbert's emergence as well.
