Natalie has given Sharkey an ultimatum after eight years of dating. They either get married or break up. Sharkey feels she isn't very pretty, but has class. He confides in Robinson who says he would miss her and encourages him to buy a ring and propose to her. The two go to the jeweler (Herb Voland) who comically thinks the two men are there for themselves. Sharkey gives a matter-of-fact engagement to Natalie who already plans for children, to his disapproval. Robinson visualizes for Sharkey what it would be like, leading to a comical dream sequence. Sharkey's comical dream sequence is quite different, however.
