Great ending for Jackson
alexandras13049 May 2021
The episode was okay. Still too political for me. It didn't catch my interest until the last 10 minutes, but I do think this is a great ending for Jackson and April. I always liked them together.

My star rating was mostly based off Jackson's outro which really helped me out with my current personal anxieties. <3

"Fingers crossed for new horizons.

No one said it was easy, Becoming the person you were meant to be. It takes bravery to step into the power you found and earned and deserve.

The trick is, to take the people who were there for you, with you.

To remind you you're not alone.

You have an entire legacy behind you as you create your own."

Bye bye Jackson....

Warning: Spoilers
Finally. Something I have been saying for years!!! There was no more story to be told when it comes to Jackson Avery after his daughter and ex wife left the show. He was just there. The son of the owner of this huge hospital, part of the board of Grey Sloan Memorial, and sure, a good Plastic surgeon, but his personal story was just bland. This is one of those times I am actually happy to see an actor leave a show. If Greys Anatomy is to continue after this season it is time to look and expand other character's stories.

Quite an ending for Jackson
reikoiesha19 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Such a great exit. Jackson FINALLY decides what he wants after just running away when facing hard times. But seriously, what is up with the editing?? It's so distracting😖 The way they cut the music away during transitions just makes it seem like the editor couldn't be bothered😅

This should have been the best episode of the series
KW0709721 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I swore two weeks ago I was done with the show and wouldnt watch again. But I did watch the next two episodes. Im stuck in that "maybe it will get better this week" mindset.

Having read the reviews I thought this would be another episode I would hate and truthfully, I didnt.

I enjoyed watching Jackson's epiphany and making plans. I really liked his speech to Catherine and everything he said to her is true everywhere, not just the US.

What stopped me from loving this episode was the fact that everything Jackson said has been played to death and rammed down our throats so much this series that his points felt dilluted and caused an eye roll "not this again" moment.

Thanks to the terrible writing Krista has given us this year and the constant repeated dialogue of the same points from all of the characters, especially Maggie who she seems to have turned into her personal whiney mouthpiece, i was bored listening to Jackson say, albeit more eloquently, what he did

I honestly believe had she not given us the same lines over and over again all season, Jackson's speech would have been much more impactful. And this episode would have been a standout, sadly the poorly written previous episodes ruined this one.

Jackson was always going to have to take over the Foundation eventually, and seeing he had finally found a way to be excited about it was his perfect exit.

It gets an extra star for not having Maggie or Teddy in it though - previously two of my favourite characters who have been destroyed by writers..

Buh buh Jackson.
Racingphan29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Jackson has always been the whiniest, most annoying character on the show. Five of the stars are for not ever seeing him again.

Eric Roberts is a national treasure. And April is still gorgeous.

Warning: Spoilers
I know some people won't consider this endgame, but in my mind as a japril stan this was the best way to end their story. Jackson and April had a lot of issues in their relationship and honestly it wouldn't be realistic for them to just kiss. Now the show is basically leaving it up to viewer to decide whether or not they will get back together in Boston. In my mind they will and honestly I feel like that's enough for me. I'm just glad Matthew and April got a divorce lmao.

Great closure
dawnsacks-0157812 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have always been a Japril Found. Love this episode as it gets closer to one of my favourite characters. I was shocked when April said that her and Matthew had broken up but it totally makes sense. Just like the episode where Arizona received a text from Callie in New York saying she was looking forward to her coming this episode gives us hope that some of our favourite characters get back together. And by the way people Shanda does not do the salt show anymore Found. Btw Shonda Is not responsible for the show anymore so quit putting the blame on her. And those who were complaining about it being political... Gray's has always been political where the hell of you been.

It must hurt to stuff this much social justice messaging into one episode
nicki_f10 July 2021
I was a fan of this show from the start, but it's no longer a well-written medical drama, but a vehicle for social justice messaging without much consideration for character development, plot, or anything else.

It's an exercise to see just how much intersectionality you can jam into one show. Everyone NEEDS to be somewhere on the LGBTQA scale. Everyone NEEDS to be married or involved with someone of another race. Everyone NEEDS to lecture the viewer on social justice issues. A character cannot be involved in something kind without some other character lecturing them either about their privilege, or how they're doing it wrong.

I am thrilled to see healthy relationships, no matter what color, religion, gender, etc. I'm interested in their lives and challenges. What I'm not interested in is being lectured about it or having this stuff jammed down my throat just for the message's sake.

This show is no longer interesting or well written. It's just a delivery system for the latest social justice message. I'm done.

Filler episode for the end of Jackson Avery's time on Grey's
gkangchs7 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you don't care for Jackson, then you can skip this episode in its entirety, for sure. All you need to know is he left for Boston with April and Harriet to lead the Avery Foundation, and try to use that money for the community. April and Matthew split up because he couldn't get past April leaving him at the altar, and adding the death of his first wife was too much for him.

There, you're up to speed for this week (See? Told you it was filler.)

Objectively boring episode, all politics aside
katharath8 May 2021
I'm not one of those Neanderthal snowflakes who get upset about the politics mentioned in the show, but I do have to say that this episode is pretty objectively boring. This one storyline easily could've been part of a larger episode; nice little reveal at the end from April, but otherwise total snoozer.

Admittedly, I am biased. I LOVE Jackson and April. So I love this episode. For those saying it's too political, my response is why is equality political? Something I will never understand.

Ugh, does anyone care about selfish Jackson? Jesse Williams is smart to leave the show and find a more interesting character to play.

April Return with a catch - 17x14 Review
jimmyishere-3774826 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
April is back! Finally after 3 seasons April returns to bring her family's news to the series just to say goodbye to her again. But I don't mind that.

The catch is that they brought her back to bring Jackson's Farewell to the storyline of the series just like they did with Yang and Burke.

The episode was just a talk for 43 minutes hence the 8/10.

Poor little rich boy...
joeylaws7 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, really, this episode is a snoozefest and not worth the trouble. We're supposed to feel sorry for this guy who has had the world at his feet and can't seem to "find himself". Seriously, try living without to get your bearings.

Skip this episode and, Shonda, please, end this show.

The worst this year
briangm10 May 2021
We found this to be a total bore. Guessing Pompeo is not returning. Will the show return next year? Will it be called 'Greys Anatomy' or 'Shonda's Follies'?

When did grey's become SO awfully political?? It's not that I disagree with Jackson's monologue (or his purpose), it's just so unreal, weird and not genuine. Horrible farewell for a beloved character.

Just waiting fir the final episode. After watching all seasons, all episodes, this episode destroys the remembrance of a very good series. And the political turn the series has made, excludes half of your fans.

Worst episode since Derek's death. Now they're saying we're all white supremacists! I'm shocked they still have white actors on the show. How bout an episode without an agenda!?

No equity for all people
No equity for all people, there where Jackson in this episode has his mouth full of white privilege and other hype words of this moment.

Truth is he shows his true colors by just assuming Aprils family would just roll over and go with his plan to move to Boston and work for the foundation. He assumes there is all forms of racism and inequality in the world but then takes himself with April a arrogant position and a position of power dominating over Aprils family. Taking not much in consideration where April is in het life and het purpose in the world. It's just mind boggling the double standard that is portrayed here.

Good up until his factually incorrect speech
Pickleman747 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode until the speech he told was incorrect on so many levels. I'm glad he's leaving. Too bad Owen isn't joining him as well. They are two of the worst characters on greys.

Nice to be 1 step closer
LHaven23 May 2021
One step closer to canceling my ties to this show. I have to say goodbye if the show stays on this crazy political path. I don't mind politics, just not crazy, unrealistic politics. What's Jacksons's plan when he hits that political wall that is corruption. They will take his money and convince him they are doing all kinds of stuff until he finds out that all the stuff doesn't work and all his money has been wasted, by professional wasters. In the meantime, I recognize this same idiocy in other long term series, Law & Order: SVU to name one.

Really boring
sycamoreavenue11 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Never gave such a low score to a tv show I reviewed, but this was a boring and pretty pointless episode. I liked the Jackson character well enough in general, but the script, editing, acting, etc of this episode was boring and pretty annoying. If Jackson was going to leave, either make it interesting or make it part of several other themes in the episode. Gave it 2 stars because of the surprise ending with April and Harriet. I kept watching GA this year despite the plodding, never ending and preachy stories, but if this is the last season for a great old series, it was badly done and this one is the worst yet.
