  Pat Dugan : [spotting a figure nearby]  Is that...?

  Sylvester Pemberton : The Shade.

  Pat Dugan : I'll get the others.

  Sylvester Pemberton : No. If the Shade wanted to fight, he wouldn't be staring us down in broad daylight. I'll meet you back at the garage.

  Pat Dugan : But, Sylvester, I thought that...

  Sylvester Pemberton : Go, and we'll talk later about getting you more involved.

• Sylvester Pemberton : What we're facing, it's not... human.

  Pat Dugan : What is it?

  Sylvester Pemberton : The Shade called it a... spiritual parasite. Like an otherworldly creature. Somehow, this Bruce Gordon found it. And now it's possessed him. I mean, this thing can make you see it as anything it wants. It can make your nightmares come true. And he told me how we can stop it.

  Pat Dugan : But why would the Shade help us?

  Sylvester Pemberton : I saw fear in his eyes when he told me that he had faced it before. I mean, this thing... it murdered men, women, children. I mean, he called it... real evil. He said the only way to stop it is to kill the host.

  Pat Dugan : Kill the host? You're talking about killing another human?

  Sylvester Pemberton : When the host dies, Eclipso will be forced back into the diamond. And as long as we don't touch it, as long as no one does, Eclipso will be powerless inside.

  Pat Dugan : Well, if this thing somehow possessed someone, we gotta exorcise it. We have to save 'em. That's the code the JSA lives by, right? That's the code you live by.

  Sylvester Pemberton : Yes, of course. You're right, Pat. There's always a way.

• Courtney Whitmore : Rick's hearing was canceled.

  Pat Dugan : That's okay. He'll be safe in jail.

  Courtney Whitmore : Nowhere's safe, Pat. And we can't just let Rick rot in a cell.

  Pat Dugan : Right, we're gonna see what we can do after the storm clears.

  Courtney Whitmore : This storm isn't passing, and you know that. And we all know who's causing it. After what he did to Yolanda and Rick and Beth... she saw him, Pat, in what she thought was our house. He's getting stronger. So Beth and I decided we're not waiting around anymore.

  Pat Dugan : Okay, well, I'm sorry, but what does that mean?

  Courtney Whitmore : It means as soon as we find Eclipso, we have to go after him with whoever and whatever we have left.

  Pat Dugan : Court, just please do me all...

  Courtney Whitmore : And since you don't know how the JSA stopped him last time, we're gonna have to figure it out ourselves.

  Pat Dugan : We are not prepared.

  Courtney Whitmore : Pat, I love you, but when have we ever been prepared enough to make you happy? I'm gonna go call Beth. I'll let you know as soon as we find the center of this storm.

• Pat Dugan : [seeing all the junk food in Mike's hands]  Okay, Mike, so, we're not gonna be down in the basement for a month, all right?

  Mike Dugan : Didn't you say we should prepare for the worst?

  Pat Dugan : I did, so go get the sleeping bags, upstairs closet, please. Thank you.
