This film was relatively well done. It had a number of good points: - The characters had development and a story arc, hence it took more time to tell the story. - David James Elliott and Natassia Malthe had good chemistry. - They had not only humans and elves (the elves were the ones with the pointy teeth, which differentiated them aside from the pointy ears, which I think was a nice and creative) but they had goblins too. - The goblins were not just stereotypically ear marked as "bad guys" but were merely another fantasy race. - Even the villain, Dragon Eye, wasn't merely evil - part of his motivation was to break the curse on his son and it gave him depth.
They made an effort to try to differentiate themselves from most Lord of the Rings wannabes, and that is to be commended. I've seen many poorly constructed fantasy films. This was well written and the special effects were okay.
