When Netflix released its first-ever Engagement Report — a revealing look into what (and how much) people are watching within the streamer’s film and TV catalog — live-action adult and young adult series like Ginny and Georgia, The Night Agent and Fubar were among those that topped nearly a billion hours watched.
But between January and June 2023, seasons of animated originals Sonic Prime, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, My Dad the Bounty Hunter and The Creature Cases also ranked among the 500 most-viewed series (out of 18,000), as did acquisitions like Paw Patrol, CoComelon, Pj Masks and Peppa Pig.
And while much of the streamer’s most popular animated content came from its kids and family programming, the report reveals new and previously released seasons of adult animation and anime entries like Castlevania, Love, Death & Robots, Bee and Puppycat, Disenchantment, Big Mouth, and Skull Island were among the top 22 percent of watched titles.

Meet the new Lara. Netflix has unveiled a quick first look teaser for another animated series coming in 2024 called Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Yep, it's a continuation of the video game series, not the movies. The series will star Hayley Atwell as the new voice of Craft, taking over from Camilla Luddington, who was the voice in Crystal Dynamics' recent games. Powerhouse Animation is working on the animation for the new series. There's not much to see yet, just a few glimpses, as it's aiming to land sometime in 2024. // Continue...

It’s been a long time coming, but Capcom’s Devil May Cry is finally coming to Netflix in a new anime adaptation. Adi Shankar (the Executive Producer of Netflix’s Castlevania series) is involved, with the show being animated by South Korean animation studio Studio Mir. Netflix dropped a new teaser for the show earlier this afternoon.
This isn’t the first Devil May Cry anime adapation. Longtime fans will remember the 12-episode Ova (which Michael covered a few years back). There hasn’t been any info as of yet regarding the new series, nor is there an official release date. However, the teaser by Netflix lists Devil May Cry as “coming soon.”
Netflix wasn’t done there, as they also revealed the first look at Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, which is being produced by Legendary with Crystal Dynamics, with Tasha Huo as the showrunner on the series.
