‘Thunderbolts*’ is just one of many upcoming projects scheduled to be released in 2025. Even though the movie doesn’t generate as much hype as ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot or ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ so far if the rumors are true it does have the potential to be an exciting start of a new franchise.
We know that ‘Thunderbolts*’ will introduce a new team to the MCU, one similar to DC’s Suicide Squad, but according to the most recent rumors, it’s also going to introduce a new organization helmed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
This is the word according to The Cosmic Circus and their insider sources. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is at this point a fairly known character considering that she appeared in ‘Black Widow,’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and 2 episodes of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ and considering that she always...

Jason Statham is someone who is admirably unpretentious and genuinely grateful for his success, and within that, he has a definite preference of films that can predominantly define his career. Earlier this year, Statham was seen in The Beekeeper, a seemingly usual action B-movie fare with the star, but the movie from Suicide Squad director David Ayer would throw in some bold conceptual curve balls to the normal vengeance tale. Deadline has now reported that Statham will be working with director Baltasar Kormákur for his next action film.
Kormákur’s resume features such credits as Contraband, 2 Guns, Everest and the recent Idris Elba lion attack film, Beast. According to Deadline, “In the currently untitled pic, Statham will play Mason who lives in isolation in a remote Scottish island. When he rescues a young girl from the ocean in a terrible storm, he sets a chain of events in motion...

In the realm of superheroes, Spider-Man would be perhaps the biggest and most popular superhero of all time. The Web-Slinger was featured for the first time in 1962 in Amazing Fantasy #15, and from there, the character never had to look back. Even though the character has had his ups and downs in the last 62 years, he has always managed to bounce back to the top!

Over the years, the character has had many renowned series, films, games, and merchandise that make him stand apart in the vast sea of superheroes. Marvel actor and all-around badass Frank Grillo is trading his crossbones for stars and stripes after joining the cast of Peacemaker Season 2 for DC. Grillo is lacing up his boots to play Rick Flag Sr. for the sophomore season of James Gunn’s superhero series, starring John Cena as Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker. Rick Flag Sr. is the father of Rick Flag Jr., played by Joel Kinnaman in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Cena’s Peacemaker killed Rick Flag Jr. in The Suicide Squad, leading me to think it’s time for revenge.
Before Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. appears in Peacemaker Season 2, he’ll debut in animated form in the upcoming Max series Creature Commandos. The monster-centric animated series revolves around a black ops team working for Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller.

More than two years after "Peacemaker" season 1 aired its finale, the second season of the DC series is finally coming together. DC Studios co-head James Gunn has revealed an intriguing bit of casting for the show as production gets going, with Frank Grillo returning to the DC Universe as Rick Flag Sr. We say "returning" because Grillo is already playing the part in the upcoming animated TV series "Creature Commandoes." So yes, he will be making the jump from animation to live-action. This brings a plan Gunn has had in place since the beginning of this DC reboot full circle.

Frank Grillo has been cast in Season 2 of James Gunn’s popular DC series Peacemaker. Gunn announced the news Friday on Instagram, revealing Grillo will reprise the role of Rick Flag Sr. the character he voices in Gunn’s upcoming animated series Creature Commandos.
The Suicide Squad spinoff series starring John Cena, follows the escapades of Peacemaker, a role that Cena originated on Gunn’s 2021 film. Peacemaker is a vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
The show’s cast includes Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.
Gunn teased last month that Season 2 had begun production and shared a photo from the set. He also noted that for Peacemaker Season 2, he would “be directing some of the episodes” like in Saturday’s shoot, “But there are three other great...

We know that Warner Bros. is working on increasing its anime library, which is probably a move motivated by Netflix’s and Disney’s “attacks” on the anime market. And while Warner Bros. is slowly working towards its goal, we know that a major title is coming soon. Since Warner is the owner of the rights to DC’s series, they have decided to build on the success of the Batman-themed anime film, Batman Ninja, by creating an anime series based on DC’s characters. Suicide Squad Isekai will see the titular group of supervillains enter a “new world” to complete a mission and we have finally received a release window for the series, as well as a new character trailer.
The series was announced a while ago and will, according to Warner’s plans, be the first in a series of anime versions of DC’s stories. This won...

WB’s live-service video game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was one of the most anticipated video games of the year. However, upon its release, the game did not quite meet the expectations of the fans, though the idea sounds quite intriguing on paper, it could not be executed properly. This is quite surprising because the game is developed by Rocksteady Studios, the same studio that developed the Batman: Arkham trilogy.

To add to the game’s disappointment, it has mixed reviews on Steam, coming directly from DC fans, where they voice their annoyance at the performance of the live service game not matching Batman: Arkham Universe. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery has come forward to express the disappointing figures that the game has generated.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has absolutely stumbled upon the expectations of the fans. This title from Rocksteady Studios, which also made the legendary Batman Arkham series, was one of the most highly anticipated titles from the franchise.
However, with an auto-completion bug and being infested with several server issues, the game only scored 60 (consoles) and 63 (PC) on Metacritic. Players didn’t take the game in a good manner either. And due to this huge failure, this game has also caused a huge revenue loss.

Warner Bros. Discovery added 2 million direct-to-consumer (Dtc) subscribers in the first quarter of 2024. It now has a total of 99.6 million Dtc subscribers across Max, linear HBO, Discovery+, and some relatively small international streamers you’ve never heard of — don’t worry about those.
It’s just the second straight quarter of a return to Dtc-subscriber growth after three straight quarters of losses. The combination of HBO Max and Discovery+ was bound to cannibalize some subscriptions in the early going, and that is exactly what it did.
The company’s Dtc business made an $86 million profit in the recently ended January-to-March quarter. David Zaslav, the Wbd president and CEO, shorthands that segment to “streaming,” so you can too — but anyone who gets the HBO channel through their cable provider is counted there as well.

A couple of days ago, DC Studios and James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as Superman. It's been a while since we've seen a superhero movie costume divide opinions to such a large degree, but it's certainly not the first time.
The Man of Steel isn't the first character to take centre stage in a splashy sneak peek meant to get fans excited. While that usually works, there are occasions when fans hate what they see. Others, meanwhile, are quick to defend what usually amounts to a complete overhaul which takes place during the transition from page to screen.
This isn't a list of the worst superhero movie costumes...just those that divided opinions when they were first shown off to the world (and sometimes continue to do so to this very day).

Disney CEO Bob Iger says Marvel will continue its “less is more” strategy, with two TV series released per year and a maximum of three films in cinemas.
Disney head honcho Bob Iger has said in the past that he wants the companies under his banner to operate on a quality-rather-than-quantity basis. It’s something he’s iterated again in a quarterly earnings call with investors, specifying that he wants Marvel Studios to release no more than two or three films a year. It’ll take a similarly restrained approach with its TV output, he’s said.
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three,” Iger said in quotes shared by Variety. “And we’re working hard on what that path is.

Batman is one of the most popular characters; he’s had a cult following ever since Bob Kane created the character in Detective Comics #27. The Arkhamverse, which began with Arkham Asylum, propelled the Caped Crusader to another level for fans.

If, by chance, you’ve never heard of Australian genre director Sean Byrne, you need to remedy that fact right away. While far from a household name, Byrne directed two of the best horror movies of the last twenty years – The Loved Ones in 2009 and The Devil’s Candy in 2015. The Loved Ones, in particular, is a gem, with star Robin McLeavy’s performance as high school stalker Lola, being one of the most memorable horror baddies in recent memory.
And now, it looks like Byrne is finally directing another film, with Variety revealing that he’s set to direct the horror flick Dangerous Animals, which stars Hassie Harrison (the Yellowstone girl who caused a major bunkhouse feud a few seasons back), Jai Courtney, and Josh Heuston.
Here’s what Variety has to say about the project:

Shōgun, the critically acclaimed historical drama created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, finished its 10-episode run on FX last week. Anna Sawai received acclaim from critics and viewers alike for her portrayal of the tragic Toda Mariko.
The New Zealand-born actress, 31, is expected to be flooded with some good film offers, and it would not be shocking if she got a chance to play a big superhero role at some point. When speaking with THR about her career in Hollywood, Sawai hinted that her big break might have come much sooner.
Anna Sawai as Toda Mariko in Shōgun
She had the opportunity to audition for the role of Katana in Suicide Squad (2016), but she had to pass that up because of her commitment to her J-Pop group, Faky. Fortunately for us, Sawai could still be cast in a wide range of roles that are spiritually related to her Shōgun character.

Actor Nathan Fillion didn’t take long to find work in The Rookie after Castle‘s 2016 cancellation. Looking back on the way the series ended, Fillion might’ve been just as disappointed in it as some of the show’s fans.

Amid the Emmy-nomination talk, the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters star is certain to be inundated with movie offers, and we wouldn't be surprised if she was given a shot at a major superhero role at some point.

It turns out that Anna Sawai, the breakout star of the hit FX series Shogun, might have broken out even sooner had she not been denied an audition for a dream project.
The 31-year-old former J-Pop singer, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, revealed that she was forced to turn down an audition for the part of Katana in the 2016 film Suicide Squad — which was eventually played by Karen Fukuhara — because the company behind Faky, the girl group to which she then belonged, forbid it.
In 2006, Sawai auditioned for and was signed by Avex, one of Japan’s major entertainment companies, which operates a music and dance boot camp in the hope of turning out J-Pop stars. “After the training — multiple years of training — you are either lucky and join a group, or debut as a solo singer, or you’re gone,” she explained.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Season 1 has only been out for almost a month now, but there’s a cascade of speculation about what players should expect afterward, or if there are no expectations to be had at all. Building on the success of their Batman titles, Rocksteady took a stroll into the broader DC Universe, focusing on the rowdy gang known as the Suicide Squad. The concept of the Suicide Squad was

James Gunn debunks conspiracy theory that he was planning Superman’s reboot during The Suicide Squad
Filming for James Gunn’s Superman seems to be going smoothly. However, there is still a stigma surrounding the film as fans of the Dceu are still maintaining that Henry Cavill’s Superman should have been given more chances to flourish. However, there is now a theory that Gunn may have forced Cavill and the Decu into the phantom zone when Nathan Fillion gave people the impression that Gunn has been working on his Dcu reboot since 2021’s The Suicide Squad.

Jeff Bridges reveals he is all set to return to the Tron series that he helped to establish all the way back in 1982, for Tron: Ares.
After many years of waiting, Tron: Ares, a sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy, is finally in production. Tron: Legacy's director Joseph Kosinski hasn’t returned and neither have any of the film’s stars – well, apart from one (you can probably guess who it is from the headline). It doesn’t even look like Daft Punk will be returning to give us another memorable score for the third film in the Tron franchise.
It’s not quite all-new though, with reports stating that Jeff Bridges is all set to make an appearance in the film. Bridges himself revealed the news on the Film Comment podcast, stating that he was excited to be working with Jared Leto, the star of Tron: Ares.

James Gunn is debunking a conspiracy theory that alleges he already knew about Henry Cavill’s Superman re-casting while he was promoting “The Suicide Squad.” That timeline does not make sense, Gunn suggested in a post on Threads, as he was not in charge of DC Studios in 2021 when “The Suicide Squad” released. The year was 2013. With Marvel raking in billions at the box office with its interconnected superhero movies, it was time for DC to kick off its own extended universe. After all, Marvel had taken characters like Iron Man and Thor (both relatively obscure at the time) and Captain America (hopelessly old fashioned) and turned them into bone-fide sensations that led to 2012's The Avengers.
Zack Snyder led the charge on creating a DC Extended Universe, directing many of the franchise's films and producing most of the others.
But Zack Snyder's Dceu never did match the success of its rival franchise, and after a decade of faltering box office receipts and 'meh' reviews the whole thing came to an anticlimactic end with the 2023 flop Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Now the entire thing is getting rebooted. So what does Zack Snyder think of that?

The box office has been firmly in recovery mode for several years now. The pandemic, it's no secret, completely upended the business, and movie theaters have been trying to figure out what the future looks like ever since. Hollywood, for its part, has been doing the same, attempting to balance its streaming-focused operations with the need to release movies in theaters. 2024 has brought forth yet another challenge as the Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America strikes last year resulted in a disappointingly bare release calendar. Dire though it has seemed at times, there have been many bright spots in the darkness.
Yes, we've had more than a few box office flops this year, ranging from superhero films like "Madame Web" to total whiffs like "The Book of Clarence." Those flops have helped create a rough situation. However, we've also had quite a few hits. Not just movies that...

Open-world games have become a common thing nowadays. This is evident from the fact that there are currently two major superhero games in development, and both of them are open-world. One of them is Marvel’s Iron Man, while the other is Black Panther. One of them is in development at EA Motive, while the other is being developed by EA’s Cliffhanger Games.

One game that comes to mind is none other than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was launched by Insomniac Games back in 2023. Yet everyone knows that DC perfected open-world superhero games years ago.
