Lost the plot
Calicodreamin11 February 2021
This episode by far lost the plot, the focus was all over the place and mostly lied with the wrong people. Fleeting interviews with actual investigators didn't go far.

Blame it on Bipolar!
homeflash30 March 2021
Basically, if you know the story of Elsa Lam, you know what is going on with the videos. You don't even have to watch the first one. The last one is the one you should watch. It concludes everything.

The ultimate report came out and point to the fact that the bizarre behavior of Elsa Lam and her death are basically coming from mental illness.

Well, if that is the case, then it can explain everything, A mental illness person can hurt or kill him or herself without knowing it. Then the moving hands, touching all the elevator keys and all those things were once considered spiritual or evil related things. However, if it is bipolar, then there is no ghost or evil spirits needed to be involved.

As far going into the tank, well it was opened and it was closed and opened and naked body. All don't matter because she has bipolar, she may hear some voice asking her to strip before going to the tank. As far as the lid is opened, that does not matter either because at the end the employee said it was opened.

But 3 things you must wonder if it is really coincidental and that I found out from this show.

1. Morbid's lyrics were about China girl, drained in water.

2. 10 years ago Dark water with a little girl who wore red and died in the movie 3. Lam-Elisa about TB outbreak in the area.

Other than that, yes, blame it on bipolar, not evil, not homicide ...

The internet sleuths are horrible
nigelfour12 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This series started off quite well but there is very little to this story. The amount of time given to the "internet sleuths" in the series is incredible. The police, hotel staff and the coroner give reasonable explanations for everything that happened, however the sleuths just counter it all with "there must be more to it" and "it's a conspiracy". Part of being a detective is following evidence, not coming up with wild, baseless theories. I felt so sorry for Morbid. They made his life hell. Someone who had been at the hotel a whole year before she died, but they just clung onto the fact that he did it. I also feel sorry for Elisa Lam's family. These people potentially gave the family false hope or kept dragging up the case on the internet. They didn't ask for this. This series should have been about the history of the hotel, going deeper into some of the stories that are touched upon, with Elisa Lam given 10 minutes of it. None of these "sleuths" should have been given the airtime whatsoever

Misdiagnosed Pagan Schizophrenic
setgetsiin14 December 2021
I have a feeling that Elisa Lam was misdiagnosed as BiPolar and was burgeoning on schizophrenia. Or perhaps her not taking her medications could cause her to hallucinate (as cold turkey meds like Depakote can give you seizures).

The other thing I wondered about was the water in the nude. Sounded very much like a pagan practice and wouldn't you just know it: Full Moon the week she was there at the Cecil. One could suggest that she was having some sort of ritual going on.

How to get into a tank and close a door behind you: You sit side-saddle to the door (open to your left, we'll say). Keep your hand on the closure where it is farthest from the hinges. Jump, pull your hand in quickly: Bam.

It's all bizarre, so why not my theory?

I nearly gacked my dinner all over the keyboard when those guests talked about brushing their teeth with Elisa Juice. Good grief, I'm in a twist about that.

Awful, terrible end.
Sleepin_Dragon11 February 2021
If I want padding, I'll lay on my 2000 pocket spring mattress, I don't want such luxurious padding in a series, whoever has made this, has well and truly taken the Micky.

It's essentially taken four hours to reach this point, the story could have been told and summarised in a single hour, they've tried to spin a yarn, and make a meal out of what is ultimately the tragic death of a young woman.

Was this simply about the blame game? I don't really understand the whole point of this. What it does show you, is just how toxic social media can be, and I think this reinforces the need for visibility on social media, nobody should be able to behave as many did, pushing the singer to near death, shocking.

Netflix we expect better than this.

Modern, urban legend??? Conspiracy theorists, do us all a favour, and stop sticking your nose into events such as these..

We need to be responsible for what we do, 'Pablo Vergara,' never a truer word has been said.

Excruciating to watch, 3/10.

Shame on you Joe Berlinger

Warning: Spoilers
To the man who directed a once poignant documentary about three outcasts placed in an unfortunate web of murder and small-town bigotry: how could you share the lying whines of the internet above and before Pablo?!
