- Based on the award-winning, Jesus of Suburbia, LOST HORIZONS explores Doug Hopkins' roller coaster life as co-founder of rock band Gin Blossoms and writer of hit "Hey Jealousy" amid his battle with depression and struggle with alcoholism.
- Based on the Detroit Free Press' Top 40 Articles of the Last 40 Years, Jesus of Suburbia, LOST HORIZONS takes us alongside Doug Hopkins' short but impactful journey as he inspired a generation of songwriters with his pop-genius lyrics that awakened the Tempe, AZ music scene as co-founder of the 90's rock band, Gin Blossoms. Battling depression and self-medicating it with alcohol, Doug finds himself ousted from his own band just as they're signed to a label and begin their meteoric rise thanks to the songs he wrote. After a suicide attempt and a round of detox, Doug starts writing with a new band. But as his Gin Blossoms work grows in popularity, finding its way onto every radio station in the nation with his hit "Hey Jealousy", Doug's only escape is to reunite with the bottle. Though his friends, family and devoted partner, Sandra, try every which way to reach him, he cannot be saved and ultimately loses his battle with depression. Now, 25 years later, Sandra, Doug's sister and his best friends gather to celebrate his troubled heart as they continue to live each day with the loss of his passing, the beauty of his words and the comfort that he's finally at peace.
