With its list of new releases for July 2023, Disney+ is deciding to chill a bit. And honestly, in the surprisingly competitive summer entertainment landscape, that’s appreciated by your local entertainment writers.
The only two line items of note this month is the premiere of one show and the finale of another. The premiere is that of Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire on July 5. This animated sci-fi anthology features 10 short films from African creators. Per Disney+, Kizazi Moto draws “on uniquely African perspectives to imagine brave new worlds of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters. This is Africa as you’ve never seen it before.”
Later on in the month, July 26 sees the sixth and final episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Hopefully this saga about a plotted Skrull takeover of earth has a satisfying conclusion because it won’t be until Loki season 2 on Oct. 6 that we get another Marvel Cinematic Universe offering.

Ryan Gosling helped John Stamos embrace his love of Disney.
Gosling famously began his Disney career by playing one of the Mouseketeers in “The Mickey Mouse Club” alongside the likes of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
Stamos told Keke Palmer’s “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” podcast that six or seven years ago, he questioned whether he needed to “shed this Disney thing,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He remembered thinking, “Who’s going to take me seriously with the Mickey Mouse stuff? I’ve got to distance myself from it.”

Originally the longtime companion of fellow Disney legend Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse eventually broke out on her own and became a cultural phenomenon in her own right. Armed with white polka dots, a pink outfit, and a charming personality, the sweet mouse has entertained generations of children, and her influence has never waned. After being a pop culture icon for almost 100 years, Minnie Mouse can be found in two current Disney series, "Minnie's Bow-Toons" and "Mickey Mouse Funhouse."
Today, Minnie's voice is just as iconic as her polka dot dress and sweet demeanor, so it takes a real pro to pull it off effectively. /Film's Vanessa Armstrong spoke with Kaitlyn Robrock, the actor behind Minnie Mouse's voice, who had some pro tips for aspiring voice artists.

Aspiring voiceover artists might fall into the trap of equating expensive equipment with success, but Robrock advises against splurging on fancy technology early on.

Disney fans young and old love a great adventure with Mickey Mouse and the gang. Over the years, Mickey and pals have headlined a variety of shows, each taking viewers on fun and fantastical adventures. The gang’s latest television hit is the Disney Junior animated series, “Mickey Mouse Funhouse.”
Mickey and the gang find the magic funhouse, Funny, in the woods. When Funny calls to them, they each hop in a car to race to their old clubhouse from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” From there the gang attaches their cars together to create the “Floaty Coaster” to fly to the funhouse. Funny then lets the gang choose between three themed doors for their adventure. The gang is then transported to a new destination and ready to solve any problem they might face. They come across friends, old and new, and Funny comes along too, morphing into different shapes to fit in.

This month Disney will be hosting Disney+ Day, which means the streamer’s list of new releases for September 2022 is more jam-packed than usual.

Some other big Disney franchises stake their claims with month with Pixar’s Cars on the Road and The Simpsons short “Welcome to the Club” both arriving on Sept. 8. Also premiering that day is the Robert Zemeckis film Pinocchio. Later on, Disney+ will...

With its list of new releases for June 2022, Disney+ is experience an ideal Walt Disney Company content eclipse. This month will feature both the series premiere of a major Marvel TV property and the finale of an even bigger Star Wars TV property.
The new Marvel arrival is…well, Ms. Marvel herself. The series bearing Kamala Khan’s superheroic name is set to premiere with its first episode on Wednesday, June 8. And none of those “multiple episode premiere” shenanigans this time, Ms. Marvel will continue with one episode each week until its sixth episode finale, as the TV gods intended.

As the Walt Disney Co. takes heat for a report detailing how the company has financially backed all of the sponsors of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” legislation, employees and artists associated with Disney have taken to social media to criticize its response to the bill.
Particularly upsetting many staffers is CEO Bob Chapek’s memo expressing “unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ community” despite the lack of a public statement opposing the bill, which would limit discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools.
The email, which Chapek sent to Disney staffers on Monday, reads: “In terms of our communities, we are and will continue to be a leader in supporting organizations that champion diversity. In 2021, we provided nearly $3 million to support the work of LGBTQ+ organizations. And, we have a long history of supporting important events like Pride parades.” Directly addressing Disney’s silence on the bill,...

It’s been a grueling three months since Marvel fans had a hit of the MCU in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home and even longer since the last Marvel Disney+ series (Hawkeye). Thankfully that unbearable drought will be coming to an end with Disney+’s list of new releases for March 2022.
This month is highlighted by the arrival of Moon Knight on March 30. Oscar Isaac stars as the latest Marvel hero, a man with a fracturing personality and awesome power imbued by the Egyptian god Khonshu. Tonally, this seems like a really divergent take from the studio and the trailers promise some compelling mystery and bone-shattering punches if nothing else.

Disney Junior’s Mickey Mouse Funhouse is about to have twice as many Mickeys as country music star Mickey Guyton stops by in the October 15 episode. Guyton, who serves as a guest star, will lend her vocals to the new character Wanda Warbler who is described as the best country-western singer around. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and the rest of the gang travel to the Old West town of Sunny Gulch in order to hear Wanda sing. (Credit: Jason Kempin/Getty Images for ACM) The Grammy-nominated country singer will also serenade the characters and viewers with a beautiful original song called “Won’t go Wanderin'” in the episode. The tune is a reference to her nickname, “The Wandrin’ Warbler” because Wanda has a habit of getting sidetracked and wandering off. While viewers will have to wait until the episode to hear Wanda’s song, we have an exclusive first look...
