Pittsburgh firefighters and police officers mistook an old movie set for an actual murder scene while battling a small fire at the George Washington Hotel. It seems the owner of the hotel left the blood splattered room untouched for almost two years. He claims he left the room alone in case the filmmakers wanted to do re-shoots. The movie is an upcoming flick called New Terminal Hotel, that stars Corey Haim and his ex-fiance Tiffany Shepis. Check out the trailer below.

Pittsburgh firefighters and police officers who were responding to a small fire chanced upon a horribly grisly murder scene last week -- only it wasn't a murder scene at all. Seems that the owner of the (allegedly haunted) George Washington Hotel had left a movie set-up untouched for over two years.
Turns out the horrific murder scene was nothing more than a gory batch of leftovers from a still upcoming flick called 'New Terminal Hotel,' a title that now seems oddly fitting. The movie, which stars Tiffany Shepis (pictured, you're welcome), Stephen Geoffreys(!), and the late Corey Haim, is little-seen at this point, but odds are that this unexpected splatter of publicity (and that crazy cast) may bring a few distributors calling. Heck, it could be the first horror movie to employ a blurb from a police officer!

In what's probably going to be our favorite news story of the week, it has been reported that police were summoned to The George Washington Hotel (the site of many real life deaths and tragedies) to investigate what was believed to be the "most gruesome crime scene" Police Chief J.R. Blyth had ever seen in his thirty-five years on the force! There was just one problem ...
Blyth and his men were alerted to the scene when Washington firefighters responding to a fire at the Pennsylvania hotel stumbled upon what they thought was the scene of a massacre on the fourth floor of the building.
However, after the investigation had begun, it was soon realized that Room 405 in the hotel had been set up to resemble the site of a grisly murder to be used in the horror flick The New Terminal Hotel! Director B.C. Furtney had left his "set...

On October 2nd the third annual GoreZone International Film Festival got under way at Leicester Square’s Prince Charles Cinema; and for the first time ever, Dread was on the scene to check it out. Our report follows along with condensed reviews of six of the films shown over the weekend.
Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, Breath of Hate, Hyenas, Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer, New Terminal Hotel, Darfur, and Devil's Playground are all included, but first a recap of the event and awards show.
In the face of fellow Leicester Square-based festival and horror heavy hitter, Film4 Frightfest, GoreZone (or Gz, as the magazine has rebranded) would appear to be the underdog. Having experienced the festival first-hand, however, it’s pleasing to discover a level of intimacy and audience connection that is easily lost amongst the hustle and bustle of many larger profile fests, bolstered by...

Gorezone Magazine have announced that they will be screening New Terminal Hotel, one of Corey Haim’s final films, at their 2010 film festival. What’s also interesting about New Terminal Hotel is that the films star is none other than Stephen Geoffreys aka Evil Ed from Fright Night.
Don Malek (Geoffreys) isn’t the usual tenant found in the skid row hotels of downtown L.A. Grief-stricken since the murder of his fiancee Katherin, the successful screenwriter-turned murderous vigilante is bent on revenge against studio head Stanley Glissberg, the man cleared of murder charges in Katherin’s death. Don can’t forget – and Glissberg’s going to pay. Enter Don’s tenacious literary agent, Ava Collins (Tiffany Shepis), who tracks him down and wants to sell his manuscript – if there is one – or cut him loose. He assures her he’s holed-up in the cheap room to write, and his story’s a work-in-progress.

The Gorezone Internation Film Festival begins October 2nd and Cyrus will premiere with Corey Haim's last film also showing. Cyrus is a suitable horror production for Gorezone. In the film a rural farmer turns into a multiple murderer when he finds his wife cheating. This sounds too familiar, minus the murderer part. In Haim's New Terminal Hotel things are dark and foreboding as a writer seeks inspiration. Two worthy entries at the festival here. Hosting are Emily Booth and Christa Campbell. Have a read of the Cyrus plotline here. Details on New Terminal Hotel and the Gorezone Film Festival are below.
A plot summary and overview of Cyrus here:
"A small independent news crew, made up of reporter Maria and her camera man Tom, investigates a series of unexplained disappearances in a small Midwestern county. The story leads them to the isolated town of Arkham Heights, where they find themselves interviewing Emmett,...

Corey Haim, arguably the 1980's equivalent of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, passed away at 38, apparently of a drug overdose, a tragedy that appears to have been accidental, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Though Haim fell on hard times both personally and professionally, Haim and fellow actor Corey Feldman -- collectively referred to as the "Two Coreys" -- once ruled the film world and were teen heartthrobs of the highest order. Haim, who hailed from Canada, arrived on the scene with the drama Firstborn (1984), starring opposite Peter Weller and Teri Garr, gained additional traction with Silver Bullet (1985) and Murphy's Romance (1985), and completely won over audiences with his heartbreaking, utterly natural turn as the lovable loser title character in Lucas (1986), with Charlie Sheen. But it was the handsome young actor's collaborations with Feldman that transformed him into a major star: The Lost Boys (1987), License to Drive (1988), and Dream a Little Dream...

Although Twitter keeps getting most of the attention these days, Facebook is still a pretty valuable resource as well. Case in point: Ezra Buzzington's post pointing us in the direction of the trailer for his upcoming film New Terminal Hotel.
Along with Buzzington, writer/director BC Furtney's suspense thriller stars Stephen Geoffreys, Tiffany Shepis, Laura Leigh, and Corey Haim. It tells of a man (Geoffreys) driven insane by the Hollywood system and details the depths of depravity he sinks to because of it. Ezra portrays Spitz, a wheelchair-bound child pornographer who is a resident of the titular hotel and friend of Geoffreys’ character.

Indie horror specialist Sean Cain got in touch with Fango to give us an update on his latest feature, Breath Of Hate. The movie marks the second collaboration between Cain’s Velvet Hammer Films and Wes Laurie’s ArsonCuff Entertainment, following Silent Night, Zombie Night (see last item here), and has added to its creative team and cast, the latter of which includes previously announced Ezra Buzzington (pictured left) of the Hills Have Eyes remake.
Breath Of Hate, which Cain will direct from Laurie’s script, is about a young woman who works as an escort but is about to leave the business, and encounters a trio of violent escaped mental patients on her last job. “Ezra Buzzington has the leading role of Hate,” Cain says. “I worked with him recently on Someone’S Knocking At The Door [see previous item here], which has played at the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and more recently...
