Strange but quite watchable

"Ação de Despejo" ("Eviction Action") presents Johnny Massaro as a young representative from a law firm whose career is in a low moment when his boss offers him a promotion if he succeeds with an important mission: to evict a circus troupe who occupies a land from one of their clients. The shy and reluctant worker goes to the distant and frightening place where he meets the clowns and owners of the circus and that's when things go really strange with bizarre situations of conflict happening to him. Will he ever be able to convince those strange characters to pay their debts or impose his will and evict them without any harm? Challenging.

It's a very odd film, quite entertaining but doesn't have much of a message afterwards. The surreal part inside the dark circus makes a bizarre and thrilling horror movie with characters coming and going tormenting the poor guy - a pity that much of their dialogue sound meaningless or too random except for the part they refuse to leave (they are totally committed with such intent). As a project where the viewer never know what to expect it's a very good one, the twists were crazed but never boring. Main attraction here is the always effective Johnny Massaro as the lead character. His silent manner, the sad eyes, almost as if dreaming of a better life when he gets the proposal from his boss and the "horror" moments where he's threatned all the time is all brilliant. He express plenty without using much words.

So that's that. There isn't much to get here, but you certainly won't lose anything with it. It's curious, interesting and for first-time directors this is quite examplary. 8/10.
