Tawnia McKiernan directed this week's episode and the characters we get to follow are Morgan Jones, Alicia Clark, Victor Strand, Charlie, Virginia and Dakota.
Throughout this season, we have seen Strand going back to his old self and his plan is to gain Virginia's trust and do some damage from the inside which he said at the end of S5 and in this season.
There are some very carefully placed camera angles in this episode which makes for some nice shots and for some visual storytelling, great cinematography and direction. Visually stunning episode I have to say. Mix all the camera work with the natural lightning, tones of mystery and psychological and you will see why I love the episode. It's like a character study in a way, slow paced and high focus on character development.
Raphael Sbarge plays Ed, an interesting character and a realistic portrayal of human psychology in how someone would act after living alone in a post-apocalyptic world.
There's a lot of good acting in this episode, other than Raphael Sbarge, all of the lead actors does a terrific job throughout the episode.
What's a little disappointing is how this serves as a mid-season finale, it's written as a normal episode. The writing is far from bad, it was actually well written and on par with the other episodes, some dialogue was decent but it was mostly great, overall writing was superb though. I wanted more answers and a semi-conclusion to the first half of S6, this wasn't supposed to be a midseason finale so it wasn't their fault. The anthology format will hopefully continue in the second half as the writers are doing a super good job at the storytelling and the pacing doesn't feel slow as each episode digs deep into our beloved characters but the red thread exists and all the pieces matter. I can't wait to see what else they will bring to the table.
The ending contains huge spoilers but I will say this, when Fear The Walking Dead returns I will sit in my couch and watching. The anthology format have been so good, and the stories we have followed, everything have been perfect. I have to say, the showrunners get the show now, twists and morally grey characters, simply bringing the Fear back to the show. Strand is his himself again and Colman Domingo's performance is incredible.
