You've gotta watch this trailer for the upcoming action thriller Savage Dog, which features Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, The Expendables II) kicking ass as he embarks on a mission for revenge.
The movie looks like it came straight out of the early 1990s, which is why I'm kind of looking forward to watching it. I've seen a few trailers for upcoming action films recently that reminded me of movies from the 90s. Are 90s-style action movies making a comeback!? Yeah, it looks like a very low-budget flick, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back, relax, and watch a fun movie like this. Here's the synopsis:
Indochina, 1959. A Wild West town controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. The worst prison in the land, it is here that a European, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Scott Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments. When Tilman is due for release,...

In case you’re out of the loop (and if you’re a fan of the Outlander series, I’m rather certain that you aren’t), Starz is bringing you an Outlander TV series in 2014, and you now have a couple more names to add to your list.
Graham McTavish will be playing Dougal MacKenzie, and Gary Lewis is Colum MacKenzie.
It’s alt-fiction, time travel, bodice-ripping, Scottish warfare… ok, actually, I barely know what it is. But, I know Diana Gabaldon’s series is massively popular, and we have another cable network hoping to spin a series into the next thing everyone has to talk about. The cast seems to be shaping up nicely.
Starz in association with Sony Pictures Television has announced today that Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, “24”) will play Dougal MacKenzie and Gary Lewis (Billy Elliot, Gangs of New York) will play Colum MacKenzie...

The Package
Stars: Steve Austin, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Keenleyside, Lochlyn Munro, Darren Shahlavi, Jerry Trimble | Written by Derek Kolstad | Directed by Jesse V. Johnson
In order to pay off his brother Eddie’s (Munro) debt to crime boss Big Doug (Keenleyside), nightclub bouncer Tommy (Steve Austin) works as the mobsters enforcer and hired muscle – collecting debts owed to Big Doug and roughing up those unable to pay. Then out of the blue, Big Doug offers Tommy an out: deliver a mysterious package to “The German” (Lundgren) and Eddie’s debt is paid up in full. Seemingly too good an offer to pass up, Tommy realises that it may be one job too many for him as he’s hunted across the country by relentless teams of hit men, mercenaries, assassins and sadists.
Teaming up action hard man Dolph Lundgren and former WWE superstar Steve Austin sounds, on paper at least,...

There are a handful of overlooked flicks hitting DVD this week, although some were overlooked for a very good reason. Greg Mottola's Adventureland (one of my favourite movies of the year so far) is in stores along with Tony Gilroy's Duplicity starring Julia Roberts and Clive Owen, the indie dramedy Sunshine Cleaning starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, and the bland, self-explanatory Fighting starring Channing Tatum. Carlos Cuarón's Spanish soccer comedy Rudo y Cursi is also worth checking out, as is the Oscar-nominated Hurricane Katrina doc Trouble The Water, and don't you dare forget the classic '80s sex comedy Screwballs! What are you picking up this week? Adventureland [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) Duplicity [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) Fighting [5] (DVD, Blu-ray [6]) Sunshine Cleaning [7] (DVD, Blu-ray [8]) Rudo Y Cursi [9] (DVD, Blu-ray [10]) The Informers [11] (DVD, Blu-ray [12]) Screwballs [13] (DVD, Blu-ray [14]) Green Street Hooligans 2 [15] Life is Hot in Cracktown [16] Goodbye Solo [17] American Son [18] Trouble The Water...

- Odd Lot International is the foreign sales division of Odd Lot Entertainment and though they don't have a huge inventory, the titles they do have are worth keeping track of beginning with John Cameron Mitchell's Rabbit Hole which should be among our most anticipated films to see next year. They also have Yann Samuell's next project in pre-production and have just finished production on a Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges pairing in The Open Road – a road trip type tale that should work especially well with North American audiences and which was just picked up yesterday by Anchor Bay Ent. Green Street 2: Stand Your Gro by Jesse V. Johnson – Completed Rabbit Hole by John Cameron Mitchell - Pre-Production The Great Ghost Rescue by Yann Samuell – Pre-Production The Open Road by Michael Meredith - Completed...

The first trailer for Green Street 2: Stand Your Ground (sequel to the 2005 football hooliganism flick Green Street Hooligans which stared Elijah Wood) dropped a week back and somehow we missed it. Oddly enough, the only reason I found it at all is because it's being directed by Jesse V. Johnson who wrote the recent Pa actioner The Last Sentinel and I was looking for some info on his next film Charlie Valentine.
Following the deadly climax of "Green Street Hooligans," several members of the West Ham firm and numerous members of Millwall end up in jail. The Gse quickly discover the brutality of life on the inside, as they are constant targets of the superior numbers and better-financed Millwall crew. Football on the inside and out is followed fervently by the prisoners and wins and losses by both are quickly followed by punishment or reward. This could mean...
