The man who Ace initially rebukes at the garage sale (who responds by saying "Man, I'm just buying a teapot!") is a cameo from the co-writer of the film, Marty Buccafusco.
The movie was written with Marie Cecile Anderson in mind to play the Vicki Lions character. Anderson previously worked with writer/director Jonathan Zelenak on his film Happy Birthday (2006).
The scene where the main characters can't lift the bike onto the roof of the building and instead tie it up with an electrical cord was improvised on the set. Originally, the script called for the bike to be lifted onto the roof with an improvised pulley system (which was supposed to fail, breaking the bike). However, that proved impossible to rig on location, so an alternate scene had to be improvised where parts of the bike were instead stolen.
The crew spent over a week setting up the famous umbrella scene. Over 60 umbrellas where used which were borrowed from friends and family and crew.
