"From the flames, heroes will rise." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled Fireline, made by the filmmaker Tylor Norwood, who last directed the Robin Williams doc called Robin's Wish. This isn't the only film about firefighters & wildfires, with others including Only the Brave, On Fire, and Bring Your Own Brigade recently. Enter the spectacle and drama of a Megafire (there was even a "gigafire" in California in 2020) burning in California, alongside firefighting teams struggling to save anything they can while protecting each other; revealing the friendship, heartbreak, and the exhilaration of going to war against an elemental force. This film takes audiences into the fire, to feel for the first time what those fighting these blazes face in taking on a life of rising danger as climate change makes big fires more frequent. Shot in 4K, with unprecedented access. This film looks incredibly intense & frightening to watch.

It started with a finger twitch. Michael J. Fox remembers being in bed in 1990 and staring at his pinky moving uncontrollably. At first he thought it might be a side effect from a night of heavy drinking, or perhaps his own imagination. Eventually he’d come to realize that “the trembling was a message from the future.” Three decades later, as he sits in front of a camera rocking back and forth in his chair, Parkinson’s is no longer confined to the slight fritzing of an appendage. It has taken over Fox’s entire life––visible in his struggles to walk, to hold a toothbrush, to send text messages––yet it’s never erased (only accentuated) his restless identity.
That’s abundantly clear in Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, an insightful, creatively edited documentary from director Davis Guggenheim that makes good on its title. Like the opening memory...

When it comes to suicide, people always presume it’s down to one thing; depression. But in the case of Robin Williams, everyone was very wrong. The headlines got it wrong, social media got it wrong and I got it wrong.
When the news came out about the tragic death of actor and comedian Robin Williams back in 2014, people were quick to judge that he was ‘depressed’ and lived with ‘suicidal thoughts’. But it wasn’t until after his death that his wife Susan finally found out the truth behind it all. He had been suffering from Lewy body dementia and he never even realised. As someone who doesn’t know anything about this degenerative disease, this film has opened up my eyes and taught me a lot about what can happen to us, with or without a diagnosis.

“Parallel,” a sci-fi thriller from director Isaac Ezban, has sold U.S. distribution rights to Vertical Entertainment.
The movie will release in theaters and on demand on Dec. 11.
“Parallel” follows four friends who find a mirror that serves as a portal to a “multiverse.” But they quickly find out that getting information from the other side to better their lives can have lethal consequences. The cast includes Martin Wallström (“Mr. Robot”), Aml Ameen (“I May Destroy You”), Georgia King (“Devs”) and Mark O’Brien (“Ready or Not”).
The movie marks the English-language feature debut for Ezaban, a Mexican director known for “The Incident” and “The Similars.”
“‘Parallel’ is a film that blends genres — science fiction, horror, and even comedy — in a uniquely satisfying way,” said Rich Goldberg, co-president of Vertical Entertainment. “The ensemble cast features some fresh new faces on the brink, and we’re happy that the film will be opening this December.

VOD is for more than low-budget action movies. Janelle Monae, Millie Bobby Brown, and Jessica Chastain rule this week, starring in three distinctive films available only to home audiences. “Enola Holmes” on Netflix, and “Ava” are new to VOD this week, while the premium-price “Antebellum” is riding high in its second weekend at $19.99.
“Ava,” released September 25, currently sits at #1 on both AppleTV and Google Play at a standard new-release price of $6.99. It was a troubled production: Matthew Newton wrote the film (originally titled “Eve”) and developed it with Chastain, who stars as an assassin in a secret organization. However, he stepped down as its director about a month before production began in September 2018 after facing public backlash to his past charges of domestic violence and assault. (Newton pled guilty.)
Tate Taylor, who previously directed Chastain in “The Help” and “Ma,” replaced Newton; after the film wrapped, it was retitled “Ava.

The newest trend in home viewing: the hot title that seems to come out of nowhere. This week it’s “The 2nd,” which jumped to #1 on the AppleTV and GooglePlay movie rental charts. An actioner starring Ryan Phillippe and Casper Van Dien would never register within film Twitter, but that’s not the ruling sensibility of VOD.
This week had a range of alternative offerings, led by the Disney+ debut of “Mulan.” At an estimated $200 million cost, it is by far the most expensive feature film to skip domestic theaters for Premium VOD. This is also the second week of “Bill & Ted Face the Music” (United Artists), as well as first for “I’m Thinking of Ending Things,” the start of Netflix’s fall awards-intended original releases. All that comes as “Tenet” (Warner Bros.) began its muted run in the U.S. as it tries to bring struggling theaters into recovery.

Each weekend brings the latest batch of new releases to VOD and the various streaming services competing for both the eyes and wallets of viewers around the world, and the latest offering serves up a more eclectic bunch of titles than usual. One which covers everything from a $200 million epic and a surrealist horror to the usual mix of bargain basement genre flicks and even the return to our screens of Pauly Shore.
The most high-profile release of the weekend is obviously Disney’s Mulan, which has finally arrived six months behind schedule and exclusively to the Mouse House’s streaming platform. Although the calls to boycott the latest live-action remake have resurfaced, there’s no way that Niki Caro’s historical actioner turns out to be anything other than a huge money-spinner, especially when reviews have largely been very positive.

The day Robin Williams died, it almost felt like the whole world was affected, all at once. The mood of an entire planet seemed to collectively sink upon learning we had lost one of the few beacons of creative light that it seemed most every entertainment lover on this Earth had some kind of connection to.
Given that the cause of his death was almost immediately reported by the media as suicide, whispers of Williams’ addiction problems, paired with his mental health history, caused the widespread speculation that the comedian had lost a long battle with depression.

In “Robin’s Wish,” a documentary about the last days of Robin Williams, the comedian’s widow, Susan Schneider Williams, recalls one of the first times that she could tell something was seriously off. Robin called her from Vancouver, where he was shooting the third “Night at the Museum” film, and he couldn’t calm himself down. He was having a panic attack over the fact that he couldn’t remember his lines; at times, he was having trouble remembering even one line of dialogue. That wasn’t a problem he’d ever had before, and given that he was one of the most mentally nimble people ever created, you can see how disturbing this might have been. Shawn Levy, the “Night at the Museum” director, recalls Robin telling him, “I don’t know what’s going on. I’m not me anymore.” His mind, says Levy, “was not firing at the same speed.

The late Robin Williams didn’t know he was fighting a battle with an unbeatable foe: a deadly brain disease called Lewy body dementia (Lbd). Now, for the first time since his tragic death in 2014, his widow Susan Schneider Williams along with many of those closest to him have come together to share his story in a new documentary titled Robin’s Wish.
Directed by Tylor Norwood, the film, which will be released on Tuesday, September 1 by Vertical Entertainment, sheds light on the final days of one of the greatest entertainers of all time and his battle with Lbd.
In honor of the release of Robin’s Wish, the American Brain Foundation is hosting a live behind-the-scenes conversation with Schneider Williams and Norwood on the making of the film. When his brain was firing on all comedic cylinders—on stage performing standup or improvising in front of the camera—Robin Williams described an experience akin to being possessed. “When it works, it’s great—and when it doesn’t, it’s painful,” he said, solemnly reflecting on his ireplicable comedic genius. Those observations, taken from an old television interview, make up the prologue to Robin’s Wish, a lean, intimate and slightly incomplete documentary about Williams’ final years and months. They foreshadow the devastating cranial spiral at the heart of the comedian’s tragic ending.
Undoubtedly, Williams’ death by suicide on Aug. 11, 2014, came as a global surprise. Rampant media reports erroneously suggested substance abuse or depression as leading causes, all-encompassing issues perhaps attributed to his recently diagnosed case of Parkinson’s disease. But once examiners conducted a full autopsy, they found Williams had suffered from a degenerative neurological disorder called Lewy body dementia,...

The news of Robin Williams’ 2014 death at his own hands was emotionally devastating. Not just because it was the tragic loss of a great talent, but also because it seemed unfathomable that such a brilliant entertainer, one who had brought so much joy to millions, could have felt such despair. It was thus an ironic relief to hear months later that he had been unknowingly suffering not from depression nor addiction issues (both of which he had struggled with in the past) but rather the devastating neurological illness Lewy body dementia. The diagnosis came too late to help Williams,...

The death of Robin Williams hit everyone hard. It just did. While the initial reports about his passing spoke about depression or a diagnosis of Parkinson’s, it wasn’t until a time later that any details about the actual problem surfaced. That would be Lewy Body Dementia, a cruel disorder that absolutely ravages an individual. The struggle that Williams went though, as well as what this illness is actually like, makes up the new documentary Robin’s Wish. Opening on Tuesday, it’s a sometimes difficult experience, but one that presents a new way to understand the untimely conclusion of an absolutely extraordinary life. This documentary is a look at not just actor and comedian Robin Williams in his final days, but also at the illness his family and friends only learned he suffered from after his passing. The would be a horrible neurodegenerative disorder known as Lewy Body Dementia.

Tylor Norwood’s documentary, “Robin’s Wish,” which releases on demand Sept. 1, documents the last days of Robin Williams’ life. Close friends, neighbors and his wife, Susan Schneider Williams, tell a story of a man and his struggles before the death that took the world by surprise.
The documentary is led by Schneider Williams, who wants fans to understand the comedian’s battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Norwood tells a touching story, educating viewers on the degenerative disease that takes over the brain, with interviewees providing further insight into Williams’ last days. Williams’ death was listed as a suicide, but he had been suffering from an incredibly debilitating physical and mental condition that made it impossible for him to go on, although he never knew his diagnosis.

Don't expect a biographical documentary on Robin Williams in the new film, Robin's Wish. Instead Robin's Wish sets the record straight about William's suicide. His widow Susan Schneider Williams describes how the comedian/actor was literally not in his right mind when he took his life. After his death, an autopsy revealed he was suffering from a degeneration of the brain called Lewy Body Dementia. Williams' wife, friends and Night At The Museum director Shawn Levy and tv producer/writer David E. Kelly describe his deteriorating state of mind leading to his death.

Too far from home to make a difference, Emma must instead show up for her crew as they get deeper into the mission.
