People sing happy birthday to Susie. Across the street, Rebecca McNider asks her mother Myra if she can go to the party. Mya tells Rebecca that she made a scene at the store, and Rebecca's father is out on call. Rebecca goes out and sits on the porch, and a wind come up. A boy laughs and comes out on the street, says that his name is Bruce, and he just moved in. He asks Rebecca if she wants to go to the party. When Rebecca says that her mother said she couldn't go, Bruce points out that Rebecca's mother isn't there.
Rebecca goes out on the street and is almost hit by a passing truck. Bruce disappears and Rebecca looks around for a moment. She approaches the house and looks at the presents on the porch. Bruce appears behind Rebecca and tells her that she should take one, and Rebecca takes a large box, runs with it onto the lawn, and opens it as Bruce looks on. Inside is a wooden doll, and its eyes glow red.
The doll reverts to a normal doll. An eclipse spreads across Bruce's face, and he holds a diamond up to one eye and tells Rebecca that she stole the present and is a bad girl.
Myra comes out looking for her daughter. She figures that Rebecca went to Susie's house, goes over, and finds her daughter dead on the lawn.
Now
In Blue Valley, Stargirl flies above the town on the staff. She lands in an alleyway, startles a raccoon away, then calls all clear. Hourman, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Wildcat step out, and Stargirl suggests that they do one more patrol. Dr. Mid-Nite checks with the Ai in her goggles to see if there's any sign of trouble. The new AI doesn't find anything. Hourman and Wildcat figure there's no point in patrolling the town when there are no villains there. Stargirl wants to patrol and suggests they cut back from seven nights to six. The others aren't impressed and walk off.
Later at home, Courtney goes through the files in the basement. Pat comes in and asks his stepdaughter what she's doing, and she says that she's going through the JSA files. She wonders what happened to the JSA villains, and Pat confirms that they're gone. Courtney says that she has a responsibility as Stargirl to stay vigilant, and Pat tells her to focus on living her own life rather than being a super heroine.
Courtney says that the Staff chose her, and it's still working even though they defeated the ISA. Pat tells her that being a superhero means finding a balance between a normal life and a superhero "career". Courtney figures that they need to search for the villains, and Pat tells her that it's time to go to bed. The two of them go upstairs. Behind them, Green Lantern's lamp glows.
The next morning, Pat is the kitchen working on the family trip and a map. Mike comes in and Pat explains what he's doing, and Mike says that he doesn't want to go camping. Pat says that he's rented a lake house, and Mike says that he was hoping Pat would show him how to use STRIPE. Pat says that responsibility and commitment are important, and Mike isn't going to quit his job.
Courtney and Barbara come in, and Courtney wonders what they're talking about. Pat and Barbara tell Courtney about the family trip, and Courtney says that she has "real work" to do. The two kids are outvoted.

Yolanda goes into a church and enters a confessional booth. Father Thomas comes in the other side and asks if she wants to talk now, and Yolanda says that she just wants to sit. Yolanda breaks into tears briefly, then goes out and has a mental image of when she was Wildcat and killed Brainwave. Thomas comes out and asks Yolanda if she's all right, and she leaves without a word.
Courtney joins up with Yolanda on the street and complains about how she's stuck in a cabin for two weeks with her family. Yolanda is barely listening, and Courtney notices and asks if she's okay. After Yolanda says that maybe they should all take a break, she talks about how she can still hear the sound Brainwave made when she killed him and it's stuck in her hear. She wonders if she should be Wildcat, and Courtney tells her that she deserves to be Wildcat, and Yolanda is still her best friend.
The two girls continue walking, and Courtney points out that Brainwave would have killed them. Yolanda asks if that makes her killing the villain all right, and Courtney says that she wasn't there.
Yolanda and Courtney see Cameron across the street, and Yolanda advises Courtney to stay away from the boy, and he might learn how his father died. Courtney considers and then leaves with Yolanda.
A tow truck driver, Zeek, comes by Pat's garage and Pat lets him in. He says that he's taking a break, but wants Zeek to work on the cars he's working on while he's on his trip. Zeek asks about the back room, and Pat says that it's just storage. Zeek agrees to fill in and they shake.
At the school, the students go to lunch break and a teacher points out to Rick that he got every question right on the final. She asks him where he got the answers, and Rick defensively says that he studied. She insists that he take a new testy, and Rick says that he saved everyone. The teacher says that she'll fail him and Rick walks out.
In the cafeteria, Courtney and Yolanda are getting food and Courtney says that she's studying to prepare for one of the JSA's villains coming back. Yolanda tells Courtney that she's looking for trouble, and she bumps into a boy. The girls sit down with Beth and realize that something is wrong. Beth says that it's just the last-day-of-school blues.
Artemis is going past with some of her teammates, and says that someone set up her parents to go into prison. She starts to hand a nearby boy her hockey stick, and Courtney figures that Artemis is attacking her and attacks Artemis first. Artemis has no idea what's going on and explains what she was doing, and goes on her way. Principal Harold Sherman comes over and tells Courtney to come with him.
Pat and Barbara are in the principal's office, and Sherman sits Courtney down and tells her parents that Courtney is doing well at her new school. He mentions the fight with Artemis, and Courtney says that she thought Artemis was going to attack her. Pat dismisses it as nothing, and Sherman points out that Courtney failed history and English. If she wants to continue on, she's going to have to enroll in summer school.
As the Whitmores leave, Barbara tells Courtney that she's going to have to decide if putting on the mask is worth messing up the rest of her life. Once Barbara leaves, Pat tells Courtney that their family is a team as well. Courtney insists that there's a villain somewhere because the Staff keeps lighting up. She says that she won't quit like Pat did, and immediately apologizes for her comment. He accepts her apology and says that she's going to focus on summer school for two weeks.
Sylvester drives into town and goes to the diner. He talks to the waitress, Pat's ex Maggie, and says that he's looking for her ex-husband who is "into stripes".
As Courtney walks down the street, she sees Cameron working on a mural and goes over to talk to him. She asks Cameron if he has any summer plans. Across the street, Lily and Sofus Mahkent are watching, and Lily figures that Cameron should know the truth about Courtney. Sofus tells his wife that their grandson is smiling, and they should let him be happy, while Courtney leaves Cameron.
Pat goes back to the garage to tell Zeek they won't be taking the trip, and hears noises coming from the back room. He goes in and finds Zeek examining STRIPE. Zeek figures that Pat is building a robot, and goes to get his tools to work on it with his "partner".
Rick goes out to the woods with three buckets of chicken, sets them down near the site where Grundy has been staying, and walks away.
That night, Beth makes a fancy dinner for her parents. They don't come home, and finally Bridget calls and says that she's stuck late at the hospital. Chuck's voice comes out of the goggles, but when Beth talks to the AI, it says that it doesn't know her and shuts down. Beth begs Chuck not to leave her and cries.
