This is another edition in "Under the Radar Video". It's true that the title of this game is a little strange and due to it's format it would probably mislead some gamers thinking this game's another "Bomber man" clone but it's not. The game you can say is your maze run and gun, it's sort of "Gauntlet" doing "The Terminator" well sort of, but to me this game is the closest we have to a good game based on "The Terminator" for the SNES. I always like to pretend my character is the T800 walking around infiltrating Skynet's base and shutting it down. And in a way that's the basic plot of the game and all you really need to know as like with all these games we enter this maze for the action.
The graphical presentation is good from character design but the mazes themselves are each technically themed. They are all well formatted. I like that each of the mazes is different and there is always something different about them which will really make you explore and fight for survival hard. The music is also good, I wouldn't say it's the kind that makes it on my favorite tracks, but it still sounds good and fits the game all the same.
The gameplay is solid it's what you would expect for anyone that has played "Gauntlet" as you explore and walk though the maze while shooting at everything that's in your path. You have different types of weapons to pick, each of them has strengths and weaknesses depending on what you need at certain points. Two of them that stand out are the deflecting laser, whatever wall you hit it will bounce off and go at a geometric angle. Another is the flame thrower which is my favorite as you are almost unstoppable with that weapon as it can drain out the enemies faster but also when you hit the walls with it, it can curb or bend it comes out of the conners, making it useful to hit enemies stationed at an angle. Though the only weakness with that weapon is the fact it has a limited range, so make sure when you use it you get close enough.
Throughout the game as you progress though the mazes you always at some point get another weapon or item to give you a step up in things but also it means that the stakes get higher. Really like that you have these computers that you sometimes access some play back a video of what transpired before which of course by its nature of a hint on expecting what's ahead. Others give you a complete map to download and refill you health bar. But despite all the fancy hardware you still must proceed with caution as you only have one life in the game but a giant health bar that will make you last the whole way, if you can make it that is.
It's true there aren't that many continues but that's because the game is short depending on how long you can survive and how many of the challenges you can pass, which are passable. So, you don't have to worry about the game feeling unfair. And due to this being a not so long game depending on your skill this game is kind of another pick up and play/ weekend rental game if you simply feel like a light action game for the day.
Overall it's a good game, it's another maze run and gun on the B list in my book but still this overlooked maze game is worth a venture.
