Audible doesn't understand Radio Theater
mrjrittenour2 May 2023
This is a shallow children's story. But it's written as a vulgar adult comedy. It's not funny and reminds me of the types of "radio theatre" my friends and I would make at 6-10 years old on cassettes with a crappy windows 95 pc for sound effects. There is still a company that does great Radio Theater. Unfortunately audible may not be it. I put this mostly on the writers. Actors can't correct bad writing. Radio theatre to easily can fall into extreme exposition. My recollection of this is that half of it is exposition. But honestly I'm just trying to forget this horrible audio drama so I could be remembering incorrectly. This makes George Lucases Star Wars radio drama look like a grand masterpiece. And let's not forget that this is decades newer than Star Wars. For those that listen to a lot of radio drama there is a voice actor in the Star Wars radio drama that acts in the best probably one of the longest running radio dramas in history. There show puts all radio dramas to shame. Because for some reason they figured out how to write good radio dramas in the 80's and just kept writing good content. Unfortunately this is a steaming pile of garbage. No dig on the actors. But why would you let a show that started in the 80's make you look like amateurs. I'll take it a step further. The writers weren't professional writers. Audible needs to have someone that understands audio drama working on the radio theatre.
